Welcome to Youth News!
Hello and welcome to summer! While it is going to look quite different this year there are so many creative and exciting ways available for us to have fun and stay connected. We have gathered some options below, please let us know of any other opportunities that you would like us to share with TVCC Youth!


TVCC continues to work hard to ensure the safety of our clients, families, and staff, and we have now re-opened to a limited number of scheduled in-person visits at our main site in London. Please continue to check our website for updates

Online Opportunity
Youth Connect - Virtual Drop-In
Join us on Zoom every Wednesday for time to relax, hang out, connect and have fun with others!

The group will not have a structured format, rather topics and format will be driven by youth members and will be facilitated by Youth and TVCC staff.

Click below to register then feel free to drop-in (no expectation that members need to attend every week). TVCC youth and youth aged siblings are all welcome!

Youth Try-It
Join guest speakers and other TVCC Youth every Thursday on Zoom to try out new activities.

Session topics will be shared by email to those registered, and on TVCC social media, so you can join the sessions that interest you! Youth aged siblings are welcome.

Our amazing TR team continues to gather ideas of fun activities and experiences that you can participate in at home. Check out their Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest pages for links, videos, and ideas!

Online Activity
Weekly Family Campfire
TVCC families are invited to come together and connect with other families and TVCC staff. Weekly special guests will read a camp story or lead the group in a camp song. A couple of days before each campfire, the Therapeutic Recreation team will send out ideas for a snack and craft that families can prepare ahead of time and bring along to the campfire. Themes and activities will also be posted weekly on the Therapeutic Recreation at TVCC Facebook Page.

Heroes Circle Meditative Martial Arts Therapy
Heroes Circle Meditative Martial Arts teaches meditation, breathing and movement techniques found in the martial arts to empower children beyond the pain and trauma of childhood disease. Siblings are welcome to join us in this once a week virtual small group.

Community Living Ontario
Student Links is an opportunity for students (ages 14 to 21) who have an intellectual disability to explore ideas for their future after high school. It matches students and mentors who naturally share a common passion or interest. The goal is to enhance their capacity to make informed decisions about their future prior to leaving school.

Recruiting Study Participants
Study: Development of a Partnership Model for Collaborative Research with Youth With Disabilities
Gail Teachman, and her team at Holland Bloorview, is looking for Ontario-based youth between the ages of 13 and 28 who are current or past recipients of children’s rehabilitation services to participate in their project. All participation will take place virtually until pandemic restrictions are lifted. For full details, visit the  study web page .

READYorNot™ Brain-Based Disabilities Project  Trainee Linda Nguyen is looking for siblings (ages 14-25) for a study to learn about their experiences with a brother or a sister with a disability. All interviews will be conducted online or by telephone to follow COVID-19 regulations. To learn more, view the  recruitment video  and reach out to the team .
