It doesn’t matter your occupation, age, or if you play a big role in someone’s life, you have the ability to help save a life. According to The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention , there is no single cause of suicide; one of the risks for suicide is social isolation.

Suicide rates continue to rise, targeting our most vulnerable population – our young people. In Georgia, suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among youth aged 10-24 years old. Last year Georgia hospitals admitted over 1,000 children for suicide-related causes.

September is National Suicide Prevention Month. Social support and connection are key protective factors. It is impossible to predict when someone is struggling, but there are ways to get involved.

Resources for Teens
Teen Health
This website and free app connect teens to medically accurate sexual health information and services. Use TMI-Georgia to locate teen-friendly clinics across the state and chat with an expert health educator for urgent or sensitive questions that may be uncomfortable sharing with a parent.

This free app is a digital panic button that takes the guesswork out of asking for help when feeling vulnerable. It gives teens the ability to get immediate support from a trusted contact in their phone like a friend, family member, or counselor.
