A Message from the Principal...
|
|
Dear St. Louis Families,
The Baptism of our Lord was celebrated this past Sunday, thus bringing us to the close of the Christmas liturgical season and back to Ordinary Time. And yet, nothing ever seems ordinary! The pace of life always seems frenzied at this time of year as we juggle home life and work life with children’s schedules and extracurricular activities. We begin to see the value of routine -- this is where prayer, hope and trust are paramount as we seek to find a rhythm in the frenzy -- and when we truly look to our faith and more particularly to the example of Jesus to provide peace.
We are excited about all the preparations for Catholic Schools Week at the end of January; by now your room parents should have reached out to you with volunteer needs as well as items we are collecting to support our two charities: New Hope for Housing and United Community—both local organizations who provide food and bedding to those families in need within our community. Remember Catholic Schools Week officially begins Sunday, January 26 with the 8:45am Mass. Students should wear their uniform and meet their teacher in McClunn Hall at 8:20am so the class can process in together.
I also want to encourage all of you to attend our PTO meeting Tuesday, January 21st which will be held in the cafeteria at 7pm--we will have Deacon Silva joining us to speak about the impact of social media on our students. His presentation is very timely as many students received a new device over the Christmas holiday.
Please pray for your teachers as they have their staff retreat in West Virginia and continue to pray for the unborn and all life as thousands March to the Supreme Court on Friday, January 24th. Many blessings as you enjoy the MLK, Jr. Weekend, and pray for those who are out in the cold. All of you will most certainly be in my prayers!
Peace,
Anne M. Dyke
