Reopening for Limited Browsing
|

While we continue to practice proper COVID protocol, we feel it's the right time to welcome visitors back into our buildings.
Governor Brown announced a change in status for Clackamas County. We moved from Extreme Risk to High Risk, and effective February 26 we will move to Moderate Risk.
- A mask must be worn properly over your nose and mouth at all times. If you forget your mask, one will be provided to you at no cost.
- Sanitize your hands as you enter the building.
- Practice physical distancing.
- We have limited capacity in both buildings based on square footage. You may have to wait during the busiest times.
- Limit your time in the building to 20-30 minutes to allow for other visitors.
- Restrooms are not available.
We are not accepting money at this time. No fines are currently being assessed.

Storm Damage Clean Up – Saturday, February 27th
|
|
Do you have tree branches and limbs from the recent ice storm that you need to get rid of? You can bring these items at no charge (limbs and branches only – no yard debris) to the Public Works/Transit Operations Center at 16610 Champion Way (across from Sandy Cinemas) between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 27th. City staff will be on hand to help you unload and will chip up the debris for you. Please wear a mask and remain in your vehicle at the site. This service is limited to City residents only so please bring an ID with an in-city-limits address on it. In order that everyone may take equal advantage of this service we must limit the amount to bring to one pickup load (bed-high) equivalent.
If you have more than one pickup load or don’t have a way to haul the debris you can use the City’s brush chipper free of charge at your home. City residents can make a reservation by calling 503-668-5310.
Please remember that a permit (no charge) is required to remove a street tree (between the curb and sidewalk) and that any street tree removed must be replaced with a tree from the City’s street tree list. Visit the City’s website for more information and permit forms.

Transportation System Plan Update Underway
|
|
The City of Sandy is currently in the process of updating our Transportation System Plan (TSP) to determine which projects, policies and programs are important to protect and enhance the quality of life in Sandy, and to determine which projects receive funding over the next 20 years.
The TSP update process helps accomplish the following:
- Review community, business, visitor and stakeholder input to identify and prioritize future transportation projects and investments.
- Provide a strategic investment plan that enhances safety, access and economic opportunities for the community.
- Align and implement strategies within the City of Sandy Transit Master Plan, City of Sandy Parks and Trails Master Plan and other local plans.
- Consider issues such as increased traffic volumes on US 26, citywide pedestrian and bicyclist activity, opportunities for enhanced connectivity and funding opportunities.
- With community input, identify strategies to improve mobility throughout Sandy, considering bike and pedestrian needs, connectivity, increased traffic volumes, funding opportunities, street design, development conditions, and user preferences.
This project will include regular updates and opportunities for public participation. If you are interested in learning more and participating in the TSP process, please visit our project webpage.
A recording of a TSP 101 workshop that occurred on February 22, 2021 is available below.

Access Information on Land Use Applications
|
|
We know many Sandy residents are interested in proposed developments and have input to share with the Planning Commission and/or City Council, but not everyone knows where or how to access publicly-available information on these proposed projects.
Take a moment to bookmark the new and improved Active Land Use Application Database. The updated page on our new website includes new features like a fully-interactive map, enhanced search capabilities, and embedded videos for larger proposals.
City staff keep the database updated as often as possible, so everyone can stay in the loop on what applications have been received and where they are in the process. You'll also find links to opportunities to take part in the decision-making process by submitting your own testimony.
For example, click here to learn more about The Views, a proposed planned development that will undergo further consideration by the City Council at its meeting on March 1st.

Be a part of the process! Members of the public are always welcome at meetings of the City Council and other boards and commissions.
During COVID-19 restrictions, the City is conducting public meetings virtually via the Zoom video conference platform. Get meeting details and learn more about the variety of ways you can still participate by visiting our online meeting portal.
