Wednesday meetings seek your input
on Whitefish Transportation Plan

The City of Whitefish is in the process of updating its 10-year-old Transportation Plan, and will be hosting a trio of online "listening sessions" this Wednesday to gather input from local residents and business owners.

The updated document will provide a 20-year, long-range transportation plan for the City, responding to growth and other changing conditions that affect the flow of vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians to (and through) our community.

The Whitefish area has seen dramatic growth and development over the 10-years since the existing Whitefish Transportation Plan was approved in 2010.  The updated plan will establish goals, initiatives and projects to address the needs facing the City both now and in the future.

'Listening Sessions' set for this Wednesday
To get the process started, local business owners are invited to participate in one of three online "Listening Sessions" this Wednesday, to provide on-the-ground input from those who are most familiar with our local transit problems ... business owners and residents.  The meetings will be held online via the WebEx videoconferencing platform, from 1-2:30 p.m., 3-4:30 p.m. and 6-7:30 p.m.
To take part in one of Wednesday's listening sessions, email [email protected] to get the WebEx log-in information.

2021 Whitefish Guide

As 2020 begins to wind down, we're hard at work putting together the 2021 Whitefish Community Guide ... the "ultimate guide to all things Whitefish."

The 64-page, four-color magazine serves as the Chamber's official Visitor and Relocation Guide, with more than 7,000 copies distributed to folks interested in visiting -- or moving to -- the Whitefish area each year.

The Guide is also the official membership directory for the Chamber, and features sections on Economic Development, Real Estate, Education, Healthcare, Special Events, Local History, Chamber Events & Programs ... in addition to complete Restaurant, Lodging and Activity guides.

An update from the City Manager
COVID cases rising; celebrate Halloween safely

Whitefish Community Update - Oct 08 2020
Whitefish Community Update
With Coronavirus cases spiking over the last two weeks, Whitefish City Manager Dana Smith is calling for a renewed emphasis on masking, social distancing and hand washing in a continued effort to stem the spread of COVID-19 in our community.

In a new Community Update Video released last week, Smith encouraged Whitefish residents to work from home if possible, to utilize take-out, delivery and rive-through options for food and other services, and to steer clear of interacting with anyone who has been ordered to quarantine due to COVID-19 exposure.

She also discouraged kids from "traditional" door-to-door trick-or-treating on Halloween, and urged adults who had downtown on Oct. 31 to wear masks and maintain social distancing.  Click on the image above to view Smith's complete Community Update.

What are YOUR plans for Oct. 31??
Trick or Treat Street plans
uncertain in COVID Era

The City is discouraging kids from door-to-door treat gathering in our neighborhoods, and urging adults to "mask-up" and maintain social distance if they venture downtown on Oct. 31.

Meanwhile, downtown merchants (and local parents) are wondering what -- if anything -- will be happening with the traditional "Trick or Treat Street" celebration in the Central Avenue business district this Halloween.

The simple answer is ... nobody knows!  Park Side Credit Union and Montana Childrens have sponsored the festivities in years past, but both organizations have indicated that they won't be hosting the kids' costume contest, trunk-or-treat or any other organized activities this year.

So ... tell us what you think!
With no one stepping-up to run the show, it's apparently going to be up to our individual businesses to decide what (if anything) they'll be doing on Halloween.  We'll promote whatever it is that the business community decides to do ... but we can't make that call without your input.

So ...  email [email protected] and let us know what your business is planning to do on Oct. 31.  We'll compile the results and alert the media!

for Ladies' DAY Out!

It'll look a little bit different than it has in years past, but it's still shaping-up to be one of the biggest shopping days of the year ... Ladies DAY Out in downtown Whitefish!!

More than 40 different downtown shops, stores, restaurants and bars are taking part in the festivities, offering an amazing array of "one day only" sales, specials and bargains ... and all of them for ladies only!

With COVID-19 still present in our community, the traditional 3-hour evening event is now a day-long, daylight hours affair, with local retailers and restaurants/bars offering LDO specials from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday Oct. 24.  They've also had to eliminate the lines, crazy contests, cheap give-aways and in-store food and libations ... so this year's it's all about the bargains!

Expect the lines to start forming well before local shop owners open their doors for the event at 5 p.m., as hundreds -- if not thousands -- of bargain-hunters converge on the Central Avenue business district for an evening of high-energy shopping.

CLICK HERE to check out the LDO Facebook page and see what local merchants have in store ... then get ready for a day on the town!
