Asbury's leadership has been actively monitoring the COVID-19 (coronavirus) global pandemic and examining best practices and next steps to consider to keep our congregation safe.

Out of an abundance of caution - and with a heart to protect the congregation - Church Council has decided to close Asbury's building and is cancelling all on-site gatherings, including worship services, for the next 2 weeks, effective Saturday, March 14, and continuing through March 28, with a goal to minimize the spread of the virus. Further evaluation will take place based on how the situation develops during that time period.

Asbury's Preschool has also made the decision to close for these 2 weeks.

But the absence of a physical gathering doesn't mean we should cease worshipping our risen Savior. We will continue to hold a worship service that will be streamed online and we encourage you to attend digitally by watching via your computer, tablet, or phone. There will be one service streaming online only at 10 AM on Sunday (again, the building will be closed... this worship service is only accessible online). We will also share an archived copy of this service via email later that day.

Live streaming is as simple as visiting live.asburylv.org. While there, you'll be able to register your attendance, submit a prayer request, and give a tithe online.

We believe that of any time to share the hope of Jesus, this is the time; and we're grateful for the opportunity to share worship and resources online during the time that the building is closed. The Church (body of Christ) will still gather even when the church (building) is closed. We also encourage small groups to explore electronic means of meeting, such as teleconferencing or video calls.

These steps are not at all taken lightly, but they are being taken because we have a charge to keep those in our congregation safe and we want to do our part to keep those in our community safe as well.

Precautions related to the coronavirus will have an impact on our activities and gatherings. We recognize that they may also have a negative impact on our giving. Please continue to give and support our ministries as you are able. You can visit asburylv.org/give to give a one-time or recurring gift on PushPay, our online giving portal or you can mail a check to the church.
Although our activities may be curtailed for a time, our fixed expenses for our ministries and building operations continue.  Also, we value our staff, who will continue to be here to support you; and they will continue to be compensated in full. Thank you for your continued support!

Any additional communication regarding Asbury's response to this outbreak will be communicated through the same channels that you received this information from (email, social media, website).

We're aware that some of our members may not receive our emails; and some are not online at all. We ask you to please help us spread the word.

We ask you to pray for those who are ill and for the medical personnel and leaders who are addressing this pandemic; and we hope to be able to gather together again in-person as a body of Christ soon.
