CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)
The Bellevue School District is committed to keeping our learning community informed. The health and well-being of our students, staff, and community are a top concern.

What You Need to Know:
- Bellevue School District schools will be closed from March 13 through April 24. Starting March 19, all school buildings have been closed to students and staff, with the exception of schools providing childcare and schools serving as technology support hubs (see below for more information).
- Learning Resources for Students and Families
- Watch our Families Forum hosted by Dr. Duran: Did you miss our March 19 forum? You are now able to watch a video recording of the live forum where we answered questions and collaborated on how to support our students during the current closure.
- Free Grab & Go Meals for Kids and Teens: (New Location Added, more info below) Meals will be available to any child under the age of 18 at Lake Hills Elementary, Stevenson Elementary, and Sammamish High School.
- For child care needs please visit the Bellevue Boys and Girls Club website.
- Base stations for wireless internet access (hotspots) and laptops are available for student use. They can be checked out from our Technology Department. Please submit your request via the online Student Technology Request Form—English/Spanish. Technology staff will contact families when resources are available for pickup. The preparation of devices can take up to three days. Students have access to our Student How-To Guides online. For additional technology help, please email [email protected]. In-person technology help will be available—more details coming soon.
- Bellevue School District building rentals are suspended until further notice. For questions, please contact Nancy Larson: [email protected] or (425) 456-4500.

FREE MEALS FOR KIDS & TEENS
While schools are closed, Nutrition Services is offering Grab & Go meals at three locations around the district.
Sammamish High School, 11:00 AM–1:00 PM

Lake Hills Elementary, 11:00 AM–12:00 PM

Stevenson Elementary, 11:00 AM–12:00 PM
14220 NE 8th St Bellevue, WA
Some things to know:
- Free lunch is for kids & teens aged 18 and younger.
- Free breakfast is available with each lunch.
- Kids do not need to be enrolled in the Bellevue School District to receive a meal.
- Kids must be present to receive a meal.
- Adults may purchase meals—$3.25 breakfast, $4.75 lunch—cash only please!

DISTRICT BUILDING CLOSURES
Starting March 19, all school buildings became closed to students and staff, with the exception of schools providing childcare (currently Lake Hills Elementary School, Stevenson Elementary School, and Newport Heights Elementary School) schools serving as food distribution centers (currently Lake Hills Elementary School, Stevenson Elementary School and Sammamish High School) and schools serving as technology support hubs (currently Sammamish High School). Cleaning staff will continue to have access to buildings. Voicemail boxes at all schools will be checked hourly, and staff and educators will continue to check email regularly.
In addition, all district buildings, including ESC, ESC-West, and WISC, are now closed to the general public. Families who have meetings scheduled with individual staff will have the option of attending those meetings in person or remotely. If you have an upcoming meeting scheduled, please confirm the location with your staff contact.

Donate to a local food bank
Support small businesses
Order takeout from locally owned restaurants near you, and tip well. If you're not in the mood to eat there right now, buy a gift certificate to use later or give as a gift. Look online to see if you can buy gift certificates for local shops and stores that are having to close up due to this crisis and help them bridge the gap until they can reopen.
Check in on the most vulnerable in your community
Check in with neighbors that are part of the most vulnerable members of your community, such as the elderly. Offering to do simple tasks like grocery shopping or running errands can make a huge difference to those who are most at risk. You can start an online document with neighbors to organize help for those most in need.

Dear IS Families,
I am writing to you as a BSD parent and an IS community member, not as a school counselor. Many of you have asked how you can support our local Bellevue community during these times. Thank you! Your hearts are so big and open and I’m so glad to be a part of our community.
As a family services contact for IS (I bet many of you did not know I also play that role), one of the organizations that has played a major role in our school district’s ability to support families is Bellevue LifeSpring. Even before our current situation, Bellevue LifeSpring has provided our families with:
- Food bags and supermarket vouchers during school breaks
- Financial aid for summer school credit recovery
- Assistance with rent and utilities

ADVOCACY NEWS
The Legislature adjourned on March 12, leaving $2 billion in the Rainy-Day Account and nearly $1 billion in reserves. To support COVID-19 efforts, the Legislature appropriated $200 million, of which $25 million was set aside in a new unemployment account created to support employees who need unemployment benefits during school and business closures and time off to care for self or affected family members. - We encourage submissions that align with our mission.
- Submissions are subject to review by the ISPTSA and may be accepted, rejected, or edited.
- Please use a separate email for each article submitted.
- Documents in plain text are preferred, however, you are welcome to include an image or icon as a separate attachment—please do not include them in the body of your email or document.
- If you need to link to a registration form or document, send us either the address of the link or a pdf copy of the document.
- If you would like your article to repeat in successive Monday Messenger editions, please resubmit it for each edition in which you would like it to appear. If you do not resubmit it, it will not be republished.
