NOVEMBER 2021
Dear Millersville Alumni,

As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to all our alumni for everything that you do to represent and support your alma mater. Your commitment and dedication provide countless reasons to be thankful at Thanksgiving and throughout the year.

I extend a special thank you to our alumni who engaged with our university this year. Some served as a mentor for a current Millersville student, others posted a job or internship on our Handshake platform, while others made a gift to support students. I saw some alumni who brought a child, grandchild, or friend on an Admissions tour of campus and others who engaged with us on social media or guest-lectured in a classroom. Some of you submitted a class note and others attended our Homecoming. All these activities demonstrate your pride in your alma mater. For that I am grateful.

For those who were able to attend this year’s Homecoming celebration, it was an unforgettable weekend filled with treasured traditions, milestones, reunions and gatherings with friends. I chatted with several alumni who had not been back on campus for decades. More than 3,000 alumni and guests returned to campus for the celebration and countless alumni volunteers helped our staff to make the weekend a tremendous success. I appreciate the time and dedication of everyone involved in coordinating this special weekend on campus, and for our alumni who participated in the Homecoming weekend events. We look forward to hosting more alumni next year.

Our community is blessed with many exciting events that take place on campus during the holiday season. I invite our alumni to attend these events as their calendars permit. One of our unique holiday traditions is the Glorious Sounds of the Season Holiday Scholarship Concert. Presented by the Tell School of Music, this special concert is a vibrant and participatory live show that provides scholarship support to music students. It’s a delightful way to celebrate the holiday season!

As we gather with family and friends for the Thanksgiving holiday, I extend my deepest thanks to all of our alumni who make a positive impact on our campus community.

Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

With gratitude,

Dr. Daniel A. Wubah

University President

Taiyana Goldsborough '23

Hometown:  Kent County, Maryland

Taiyana Goldsborough is achieving success as a student-athlete on the Millersville University women’s lacrosse team and in the classroom as a junior majoring in Government, Policy, and Law. With the support of scholarships, Goldsborough has excelled athletically and academically and was named a PSAC Scholar-Athlete in 2020 and 2021. “As a first-generation student and the oldest of seven siblings, it has not been easy paying for school. I am happy to say that this year is the first year I have been able to attend school for free! It is only with the help of Millersville’s generous donors and the athletics program,” she explains.

Goldsborough enjoys studying government and global politics and plans to pursue a master’s degree in a related field in the future. “In Global Politics, I was always encouraged to look through a different lens than as an American citizen. This helped expand my perspective on many situations to apply to real-life situations,” she states.
