We will be sharing updates on what is happening in our partnering schools with our Venture Teams, Changemaking projects and efforts to bring the "Portrait to Practice".

On Monday, Phase 2 of the Portrait of a Graduate grant was officially launched. We held a convening with Portrait of a Graduate partners, their leadership teams, and prospective leaders to launch the second phase of our POG work. Read more, below.

Phase 1 of Portrait of a Graduate was a community-driven Portrait planning process. It was conducted January to March 2020 and September 2020 to July 2021. The key activities were to:

  • Examine graduates' readiness for college, career, & community
  • Review existing student outcomes frameworks
  • Identify knowledge and skills all local graduates will attain
  • Develop an action plan for using the portrait of a graduate

Phase 2 of POG is implementation of a 10-Month Action Plan that includes stakeholder engagement work, exploration of models and strategic implementation to ensure that:

  • Districts develop a community culture that reflects our Portrait values and attributes
  • POG attributes are being realized through the curriculum for ALL students
  • There is diverse and equitable access to POG strategies and changes

Changemaking in Action!

We are so impressed and proud of Reagan B., of Leominster. She realized that, due to COVID, students can no longer share supplies in classrooms. She understands that for some of those students' families, purchasing school supplies could mean less food on their tables. And she also knows that superhero educators are stepping up more and more to stock their classrooms using their own funds. She knew she wanted to help!

She created a fundraiser to ask for donations to be able to create school supply care packages. She raised over $1,200 to purchase supplies to fill 200 bags. She enlisted a friend to help stuff the bags and then she donated them all to Northwest Elementary School. Congratulations, Reagan! And thank you for your hard work and Changemaking attitude.
Youth Venture in Action!

The Fab 5 Venture Team from Ayer-Shirley Regional High School hosted a Pie Sales Fundraiser to be able to support the Apple Valley Center Nursing Home, along with some local families in need and homeless shelters. They sold 65 pies!

Congratulations Fab 5! We are proud of their commitment to their community.
Youth Venture in Action!

Staff is happy to be back at Parker Charter School. Students in the Youth Venture block in grades 7 - 11, had fun playing a "Getting to Know You" Jenga game.

They are looking forward to discovering their passions and causes they hope to support, ultimately completing an Action Plan and presenting their project ideas at a Community Panel.
