PEN vs PV FOOTBALL GAME THIS FRIDAY AT 3 PM
I expect Peninsula High students to display outstanding sportsmanship during the Peninsula versus PV home football game this Friday. All Peninsula High students are expected to show respect to our PV High guests before, during and after the game.

All Peninsula High students must follow our school's "Zoo Rules":
  • Cheer FOR Peninsula and not against our opponents
  • Support the officials
  • Maintain a positive attitude
  • No booing
  • No profanity or obscene gestures
  • No noise makers (including, but not limited to: voo voo zallaz, cow-bells, clappers, thunder sticks, and horns)
  • No face or body paint
  • Face mask must be worn

In the event that an individual violates any of the rules listed above, they will be escorted out of the Zoo and may be suspended from the game, and further consequences will be decided by the administration.

The rivalry between Peninsula and PV High is fun and exciting! Let's all have a great time!

HALLOWEEN COSTUME RULES
To those who may be wearing costumes to school on Thursday, please be sensitive to the fact that Peninsula High School is a culturally diverse community. Let's have fun, but let's be respectful. There will be a costume contest at lunch in the amphitheater.

Costume rules:
  • Costumes must not hinder students from wearing their face masks as required. No costume full face-covering masks allowed.
  • No weapons of any kind, or toys that resemble weapons.
  • No costumes with wheels (skates, skateboards, etc.).
  • No projectiles (silly string, water guns, balloons filled with anything).
  • No drugs or alcohol references or overtones.
  • No costumes that may be offensive to any race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, or socio-economic status.
  • Shoes are required.

Students who do not abide by the Halloween Dress Code will be subject to immediate disciplinary action.

AVID Hosts Successful Pancake Breakfast
Our AVID students and teachers served up a delicious pancake breakfast yesterday on campus. The AVID Pancake Breakfast is a wonderful community event for the AVID program and is a fundraiser to support the enrichment programs they offer.  Our AVID teachers Ms. Sidella, Ms. Donahoe, Mr. Doctor, and Mr. Spalding cooked pancakes and sausages on their camp stoves all morning. Thank you to our AVID families who donated food, drinks and paper goods. Thank you also to the Redondo Village Starbucks for donating the coffee.
A MESSAGE FROM THE NURSE

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are now entering flu season. The CDC recommends the flu vaccination for anyone six months of age or older, who do not have contraindications, as a first step of protection. It takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body and provide protection against the flu. Remember that you cannot get the flu from the vaccination. It is likely that, if you become ill, you were exposed to the virus prior to getting the vaccination. If after the two-week period you still become ill, the antibodies produced by getting the vaccination will reduce the severity of illness that you experience. This also will reduce the days lost from school and the stress that students feel when missing in-class assignments or exams. You can find more information here and by speaking with your student’s physician. Make sure to wash your hands often, cover coughs and sneezes with your sleeve or a tissue, and stay home when you are sick. Research has shown that the protection lasts for six months, so we have entered the appropriate time period to get them. Most pharmacies and doctors have them in stock now. I got mine!
