Board Updates:
Transportant Update:
Paul Beadles, Director of IT Operations, Becky Douglas, Director of Transportation, and Andy Vaughn, Director of Business Development with Transportant shared information and highlights of the new software program available for district route buses.  The software provides GPS tracking, real-time video camera access, and ridership information for transportation staff. It also communicates with the district PowerSchool system to provide up to date information on bus riders.  Once the system is fully installed, it will also include a mobile app that parents and students can download based on the student's PowerSchool account. The app notifies the student when their bus is three stops away as well as notifying parents when their child is picked up and dropped off. The software is being installed in district route buses and is currently being tested with a small group of students. Plans are in place to have the system fully functioning in August of 2020.  The district will provide additional information on features once the installation is complete.
ACT Data:
Ryan Karjala, Associate Executive Director of Assessments and Accountability, presented information regarding how Emporia High School students who took the ACT and graduated have progressed towards meeting college readiness benchmarks. The scores used in the report reflect the students' most recent ACT test.  Overall, Emporia High School students have done well and have scores consistent with the state average in all categories.
