Urgent Prayer Request: Natural Disaster Recovery
The news of the Typhoon in the Philippines, floods in Malaysia, and volcanic eruption and earthquake in Indonesia are disturbing – especially during this Christmas season of peace, love, and family togetherness. It is our prayer that the international community will be touched to stand in solidarity with those affected in practical ways.

Join us in praying specifically:

  • For those who have been displaced and lost loved ones, homes, crops, livestock, and livelihood.
  • For God’s hand of comfort and love to surround all in need at this time.
  • For authorities and health officials as they do their best to control the situation and carry out rescue operations while coping with the ongoing threat of the coronavirus.
  • For urgent relief and aid to reach the people who are trapped and swamped.
  • For communication lines and power lines to be restored.
  • For our Baptist conventions, ministries, and teams on the ground as they carry out relief work during this season.

Moving Beyond the Pandemic: Making 2022 Count
BFAD Capacity Building Workshop | Thursday, January 27, 8 am EST
How can the church serve faithfully in its context and community in 2022?

Many are slipping back into extreme poverty, national governments are weakening because of political and social strife, and economies are struggling as markets are continually disrupted. Some church leaders are recognizing that, in this context, their ministry hasn’t stopped. It is actually just beginning. So how can the church and development organizations begin to build back and build up in a world that is discovering new norms and ways of being? Make plans to attend this workshop and join us in prayer for the Lord to encourage and equip all who attend.
As 2021 draws to a close, we give thanks for the many ways God has impacted the world through our global Baptist family. Your prayers have made a difference, and your partnership is changing lives. Remember that it's not too late to give a gift this holiday season that will yield fruit in the New Year. Check out our Gift Guide to help support Venezuelan missionaries, provide care for refugees, and stand with the persecuted around the world.
A Prayer from Japan

Eternal God,
We say good morning to you.
Hallowed be your name.
Early in the morning, before we begin our work, we praise your glory.
Renew our bodies as fresh as the morning flowers.
Open our inner eyes, as the sun casts new light upon the darkness
which prevailed over the night.
Deliver us from all captivity.
Give us wings of freedom like the birds in the sky,
to begin a new journey.
Restore justice and freedom, as a mighty stream
running continuously as day follows day.
We thank you for the gift of this morning,
and a new day to work with you.

(Masao Takenaka, first president of the Asian Christian Art Association, Japan. BAE p.62.)
