Dear HLA Families,

The memo below contains important information about our school reopening plans, and is a follow-up to our July 31st communication.  Most importantly, we will be asking you to choose a learning option for your child for the first quarter of the school year: either a fully remote learning model, or a hybrid learning model.

On August 7th, Governor Cuomo announced that schools in New York State are allowed to reopen this fall if they follow a set of health and safety requirements relating to COVID-19.

For HLA, this means we are moving forward with the plans we shared in our July 31st communication:

  • Our school year for children will start on September 8th.
  • The first two weeks of the school year (September 8th - September 18th) will be fully remote for all students. In other words, students will not come to the school building during this two-week period.
  • Families will be able to choose either a Hybrid Learning Model or a Fully Remote Model for the first marking quarter and will have the option to change their selection for the following quarters.
  • For families that choose the Hybrid Learning Model, students will come to the school building beginning the week of September 21st.

Much more detail on these two options, and on our reopening plans, is in the memo below. We will also be holding another Town Hall Zoom meeting to answer your questions, on August 13th at 8pm. You can access our Town Hall via this Zoom link.

You will need to make your choice of Hybrid or Fully Remote models for your child by Monday, August 17th. Doing so will allow us to prepare a safe and meaningful educational experience for your child. Please fill out this form to indicate your selection.

In offering your child a choice of program model, we are encouraging you to do what you think is best for your family and child. Some households have particular challenges in keeping their children at home, and others face greater risks of sending their children to school due to the health of one or more household members. We understand how difficult this decision can be.

Please feel free to email us with questions at info@hebrewpublic.org.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Hadar Dohn, Head of School
