Preparing Each Student for a Successful Future

New District Leadership Positions Announced
After completing the interview process, the Board of Education has promoted two current building leaders to serve in district-level leadership positions for the 2020-21 school year. Please join us in congratulating Mr. Tyler Overstreet as he transitions from RHS Principal to Assistant Superintendent, and Mrs. Christy Coursey as she transitions from Schofield Elementary Principal to the Director of Elementary Learning. Additional details can be found in THIS COMMUNICATION that was sent on Friday, January 17.

BOE Meeting Recap
BOE meeting At the January 16 Board of Education meeting the adoption of the agenda and approval of consent items (found on BoardDocs) took place after the Pledge of Allegiance. In addition, President, Todd Wojciechowski, provided a Board Update.

The November and December RepMO Heroes were celebrated! Congratulations to bus driver, Betty Dipper and Lyon kindergarten teacher, Carrie Davis!

Republic Early Childhood students shared about their learning and even showed us one of their "rituals." Check out the included video of these sweet students singing their rendition of Twinkle Twinkle with our Board of Education! After the students,  CTA presented and the monthly MSBA video was viewed.

Administrative presentations were as follows:
  • Josey McPhail, Director of Communications presented the 2019 Season of Surveys results.
  • Dr. Wistrom provided a monthly update to the Board regarding district finances and district happenings.

Board policies were the only discussion item on the agenda. (details on BoardDocs), and there were no action items.

The next regular meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 20 at 7:00 p.m.
2020-2021 Calendar Approved
The Board of Education approved the 2020-2021 school calendar found HERE. As a reminder, due to new legislation from the state of Missouri, the earliest day the district could begin school was August 24. Also, please note that there are three built-in snow day make-ups. If we have snow days prior to those days they will be used to make up school days missed. However, any days missed after those three built-in make-up days have passed will not have to be made up. Therefore, May 26 will be our last day of school (1/2 day). 
RCF Grant Period Open Now Through February 10
The Republic Community Foundation will be awarding $21,000 to local philanthropic organizations, including educators within the Republic School District. This year, of that $21,000 they have earmarked a one-time grant worth $7,500-$10,000. For details and to apply by the February 10 deadline, CLICK HERE. Be sure to scroll down to RCF. 
You're Invited to Join the Republic School District Polar Plunge Team! 
Want to brave the cold waters as you support Special Olympics? The Republic School District is creating a team to do just that! The annual Polar Plunge will take place on March 7, 2020 at the Ski Shack Cable Park. To participate, Special Olympics is asking teammates to donate $75. If you want to join us, simply join our team and donate your $75 HERE. Once we have our team established we'll share out our team link to gather additional donations for this awesome cause, and then together we'll take the plunge on March 7!
