BREWSTER DAY CAMP          Newsletter July 26, 2020        Vol. 39 Issue 13

Dear Brewster Day Camp Family,

This week, we celebrate the spirit of healthy competition! Each summer during Week 4, we come together to demonstrate our Courage, Hope, Good Spirit & Peace on Green & White Day. As our traditional summer camp spirit day, Green & White Day embodies the values of friendly and spirited competition that fuels our camp family.

Beginning in the summer of 1998, we split the tent groups into the Green Team and the White Team to enjoy a day of celebrating healthy competition at 3570 Main Street. In '98, before green and white beads got to campus, the competition was decided simply by which team had more activity beads on their necklaces and winning team, the Green Team, was awarded the Green & White Day trophy. Thanks to the skilled craftsmanship of Jenny Candon, this same Green & White Day Trophy is awarded to our winning teams each summer.

Campers go all out on Green & White Day, donning green and white clothing, face paint, and stickers from head to toe. As per tradition for the last 39 summers, each tent group remains on either the green team or the white team in perpetuity. This means, one summer you are on the green team, and the next, you might be on the white. As impartial judges, our program staff remain neutral and you can find all sorts of creative green and white outfits refereeing the games.

Green & White Day offers campers and staff the opportunity to explore their own competitive spirit, be a courageous teammate, a hopeful athlete, a good spirited competitor, and a peaceful winner/loser. This summer, we hope that you are able to create your own healthy and spirited competitions at home. If so, please share your Green & White Day with us via social media!

We look forward to sharing all of our Courage, Hope, Good Spirit & Peace...

Share your summer with the BDC Family!

We have created a brand-new video newsletter for BDC'20...starring YOU! Each week, please send us videos of your family completing the activities that we send you or simply incorporating Courage, Hope, Good Spirit & Peace into your lives. With your help, we will create a weekly video newsletter showcasing all of the magic that you, the BDC Family, is enjoying. Here are some instructions:
  1. To capture video on cell phones or iPads, please turn the device horizontally (landscape).
  2. 10 seconds of video is the perfect length.
  3. Your device's microphone is sensitive, so make sure to stand close (under 6 feet) to the person you're filming so that we can hear them.
  4. Capture a few seconds at the beginning and end of the action to allow us to edit the clip.
  5. Please send us the one best video of your activity.
  6. Please send us the video unedited, videos with titles and graphics will not be used.

Have fun filming! When you have a video to send us, upload it directly to our BDC dropbox:

Please call or email with any questions or comments!

By uploading videos, you give BDC permission to use this content for marketing purposes on our website and social medias.
We thank you!
