Quarter 3 / 2020

Make Your Quality Stand Out

In view of the recent announcements it would appear we are locked into our new way of working for some time. As the above picture suggests, we are going to have to draw even more on our own inner thoughts.

With that in mind, time for a more light hearted view of the world of ISO this time methinks.

Getting The ISO Message Across In A Different Way

I have been considering a new approach to get over the benefits of 9001 for some time. Finally, I put it all together last month with a series of visuals that depict a situation you might want to move towards or perhaps avoid. The tag line at the bottom is the relevant part of the standard that is offered as a solution.

These appear midweek on LinkedIn from September to October and can be found by searching with either of these tags:

#Isoimages
#9001SC
#peterts
#everyTWT

If you know anyone thinking about ISO or having trouble with their existing system, sharing it across to them would be much appreciated.

The UK Scheme For CE Marking

Here is a nice brief resume that I came across in my CQI 'Quality World' this month that I thought worth sharing.

"The UK Government has announced that manufacturers in Great Britain must be ready to apply the new UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking on their products from January 1st 2021, as the transition period for Brexit comes to and end this year.

The UKCA marking will apply to most goods that currently require the CE marking. Some of the product groups that will be affected include medical devices; vehicles; chemicals and construction products that require manufacturers to follow new rules for implementing the UKCA marking.

According to the UK Government's guidance:
CE marked goods in scope of this guidance that meet EU requirements (where these match UK requirements) can continue to be placed on the GB market until January 2022 where EU and UK requirements remain the same".

Get Your Remote Auditing Act Together

I announced the launch of four short videos to cover the Proposal, Planning, Platform and Performance relating to effective and memorable remote audits. This is just to let you know that all of them can be accessed for free at my blog right here.

Making Sure There Is Accountability

A colleague of mine Peter Cruikshanks writes a blog on business issues. I thought this one on accountability resonates with 9001 these days in particular with top management. Click the picture to read it.

Allow Time To Unwind - let's ROCK!

As I said at the beginning, this is a more easy-going edition of the Ezine, and nothing typifies this more that the final contribution. I decided on a new project away from work whereby I would learn a new musical instrument. With all the years I have been involved in acoustic music, I had seen many a melodeon - but never even picked one up.

Anyway, I ended up with one tune I felt was OK to record during lockdown and asked my son to 'just add a bit of guitar to this son please'. I wasn't expecting this - think you might be tapping your feet to it! Just click the picture.

"Just to let you know that I really enjoyed reading your latest mail shot and love the effort and detail you put into them. They have a really nice friendly feel about them", OW

"This is really nice", CR

So, till next time, make your quality stand out!
