SPOTLIGHT: Human Trafficking Prevention
January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month and this month marks the 20th anniversary of the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act (TVPA) of 2000. This act provides many protections for survivors of human trafficking and sets the ground work for prosecutors to bring perpetrators to justice. As institutions of higher education (IHEs) work to keep their schools and students safe, it is critical to also combat human trafficking as anyone could be a victim and college campuses can be at risk for recruitment. Use the resources, news clips, and research below to learn more about what IHEs can do to keep their campuses safe from human trafficking.
