FUNdraiser Raffle. Your donation not only goes to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer/American Cancer Society, but you get raffle tickets to some great (dance) prizes! I have won several weekend passes each year! You get to decide how many of your raffle tickets go towards the prizes you want so if you win, you get something you've chosen. Win-win! As someone who lost her mom to breast cancer, please consider making a donation, and possibly winning some great prizes!

Halloween Dance with
DJ Jacen Northcutt
CSDS welcomes back local Junior dancer (and new instructor too!) Jacen Northcutt as our DJ for the Halloween Dance on Saturday, October 19th, at the Ivy Creek United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. No lesson this month, dancing from 8-11 pm with a Costume Contest during the break (9 pm)! Costumes are not required but are highly encouraged!
Admission:
- $10 for CSDS Members
- $13 for non CSDS Members
- $5 for Students (FT w/ID) & First-Time Attendees
- $5 for CSDS Members with October Birthdays
- Children Under 16 are Free (no childcare services)
FOOTWEAR:
Please wear either dance shoes or light-colored soles; whatever you wear must be non-marking!
CODE of CONDUCT:
Attendees of CSDS events are expected to be familiar with and abide by our
Code of Conduct.
INCLEMENT WEATHER:
In the event of inclement weather, we will post any schedule updates/changes on our
public Facebook page (you don't have to have an account), by 2 pm.

Swing Swap Fall Schedule
Swing Swap returns to the
Murray High School gym on Thursday, October 3rd. It's Open House style, come anytime between 7:30-9 pm to join Hosts Lisa Morales and Kevin Sumter for CSDS' free weekly dance practice!

June Dance Recap
Thanks to all who attended our June dance with guest pro, Robin Smith! Robin taught a great whips lesson and then DJ'd the dance. If you're ever in the Raleigh area, look him up. He teaches regular Monday night classes at Loafer's and offers private lessons too. You can also find him on staff at many east coast weekend dance events.
Robin is also hosting his own event, West Coast Swing Champions at Sea, in February 2020, with top pros Jordan Frisbee & Tatiana Mollmann, Kyle Redd & Sarah Vann Drake, and Markus Smith & Tren Veal, and superstar DJ Louis St. George. You'll depart from Ft. Lauderdale, FL and spend 5 glorious days in the Western Caribbean.

HELPERS WANTED!
Would you enjoy free admission to a CSDS dance? CSDS is a non-profit organization and is 100% run by volunteers. It "takes a village" to host a dance. Volunteer Coordinator
Kristin Wenger is collecting names of CSDS members who would be willing to help out from time to time in exchange for free admission. We need helpers to set up, sit at the registration desk, clean up, or help with the snack table.

Adela is often the Table/Group Dinner Organizer for events attended by Charlottesville Westies ~ if you're planning to go to any of these or other events, let her know! And reserve your hotel room ASAP as the event hotels usually sell out well in advance; you can always cancel it later. Don't wait until you decide to go to book your room; it will be too late!
Gaia Read often organizes roadtrips from Charlottesville for the DC/MD/NoVA dances/events; contact her if you're interested in carpooling sometime.
