August Newsletter
Summer usually brings our annual Evening of the Arboreta to celebrate Newport’s urban forest and the stewards caring for our city's trees.

This year will be a little bit different.

For the safety of our community we won’t be holding a large gathering. Instead, we invite you to join us in supporting our work a different way.

In late August we will hold a unique sale and online auction of some of the very special trees that we have been growing at the Heritage Tree Center.

Notable and hard to find trees from around the world and right here in Newport will be available for purchase. We hope you will join us.
The State of the Forest
It is our pleasure to present the 2020 State of the Forest, our annual report.

Supporters for calendar year 2019 can expect to receive a physical copy in the mail shortly.

If you would like to request a physical copy, or think we might not have your current mailing address, please complete our contact information form.
Pollinizers Abound!
Thank you to all who purchased pollinizers from our summer plant sale. We were thrilled by the enthusiastic response and raised over $3000 for our programs.

In addition to the many home gardens that we hope are humming with pollinators, we partnered with our neighbors at Sachuest Point Wildlife Refuge (left) and the Thompson Middle School Community Garden (bottom) to supply them with pollinizers for their gardens.

Have you spotted new pollinators visiting your garden? We'd love to see your new plants!

The Pressing Process
As we continue to expand the Aquidneck Island Herbarium, our intern Cailin put together this great video on the process. Enjoy!
