OCTOBER 2, 2020
Happy Friday St. Louis Families!
What an interesting week we have had! We ended our first full month of instruction and began a new month and a new virtue (friendship) all in one week. We celebrated some incredible saints this week: Feast of the Archangels (9/29), St. Jerome (9/30), and the feast of St. Therese of the Little Flower (10/1) and the Memorial of the Guardian Angels today. Their lives offer a beautiful testimony to the goodness that can happen when we have faith, and their examples challenge our students to follow in their footsteps. If you haven’t been able to join us for morning prayers—please try to do so—it’s a great way to start the day and you may glean some small piece of saintly or fun trivia that can come in handy throughout the day.
Thank you to those families who supplied valuable feedback for St. Louis Catholic School—the DFE survey closed today, and we will be using the information and comments to help develop our goals for the next year and moving forward. I am grateful for those who took time to offer constructive responses as we recognize the importance of the communication, and your input matters to us.
The Office of Catholic Schools has granted the postponement of our Design For Excellence (DFE) reaccreditation self-study and visit. This is good news for our faculty and staff who are working so hard and like you are wearing many hats. We feel confident this postponement will allow us to do a better job next year with the many different aspects of the process. Our calendar will stay the same at this time as the half days will provide opportunity for necessary collaboration, planning, and training for the faculty and staff.
I wish you all a wonderful weekend, know that I am praying for all of you and ask that you keep the faculty and staff in your prayers too.
Peace,
Anne M. Dyke
Principal

My child's daily wellness check was flagged. What do I do?
|
The health and safety of our school community is critical to our ability to offer in-person instruction for our students and will not be taken lightly. If your child answers "yes" to any of the symptoms on the Daily Wellness Check, please keep them at home. If you send your child to school displaying any of these symptoms, the nurse will contact you to pick them up. When keeping your child home, please follow these steps:
-
Email Mrs. Schymanski (attendance@stlouisschool.org) and your child's homeroom teacher to let them know your child will be out sick OR if they are well enough to participate in school, will be doing so virtually.
-
Email the school nurse (nurse@stlouisschool.org) to discuss next steps for monitoring your child's symptoms.

#BetterTogether Committee Forming

With some students in-person full time, some on a hybrid schedule and still others all virtual, this year we face a unique challenge in keeping our school community connected and engaged. Our enthusiastic and supportive school community is what makes St. Louis so special. As in the spring, we'd love to offer some socially distanced and fun activities in which ALL of our students and families can participate and maintain their connection to the school. We're looking for a few parents who are willing and able to help plan and execute these activities with guidance from the school. If interested, please contact Mrs. Matheis, development@stlouisschool.org.

Life is Hard Right Now
Mental health issues are on the rise in general, and we’re seeing it among our students as well. If you have concerns about your child, PLEASE be in touch.
