Joy to the World!

On many church calendars, Advent is the time four weeks before Christmas when we excitedly anticipate the coming of Christ’s birth and rejoice! As believers in a powerful, loving God who sent His Son to save the world, we have much to celebrate. All of creation calls us to revere and praise our glorious God, and so we sing in worship “Joy to the World,” “Silent Night,” “O Come All Ye Faithful,” and other beloved carols.

What are your favorite Christmas traditions? Are there special foods and Christmas cookies that say JOY in your family? Do you have favorite Christmas movies you watch each year? What special ways of celebrating have been practiced by your family for years, even multiple generations? Some of us are creating new traditions as our families move to different parts of the country or add members. Many of you have new grandbabies who will celebrate and be celebrated this year. Christmas is a time that unites billions of people around the world in the spirit of love.

Thank you for your partnership as we support World Vision’s life-giving work with children and families in Honduras, Kenya, and the Syrian conflict area. Together, our gifts and prayers on behalf of those who are suffering and downtrodden send light and hope into their darkness. We pray they too will experience the love of the Christ child.

During these weeks of Advent when we light the candles of hope, peace, joy, and love, let’s become more attentive to see God at work in the world and in the small things in our own lives—smiles, hugs, music, good food, sunshine, and yes, even rain. When these blessings become evident, we move toward a deep awe that becomes our deep comfort. Emmanuel. God with us.

May you experience blessings, joy, and the wonders of His love in this special season.

Women of Vision in Action

We're partnering with Know Me Now in January, serving children who have an incarcerated parent. Know Me Now (KnowMeNow.org) commits to transforming the visitation experience into something warm, inviting, and full of positive memories by providing Connect Kits to each child; they will open these kits while with their parent. We have the opportunity to create and provide some of these kits.
