World Communion Sunday
The first Sunday of October is World Communion Sunday. Christians in every culture, all over the world, will be remembering and affirming that Christ is the head of the church. On Sunday we will participate in this global effort and partner in communion with our world wide community of faith.
SPRC Update on Staff Changes
The Staff Parish Relations Committee is excited to announce the following changes to staff responsibilities, effective October 1, 2019.  With recent staff departures, the SPRC has taken the opportunity to realign staffing responsibilities to better accomplish our mission of being a "harbor of hope in our chaotic world, where people come to know God, build meaningful relationships, and unleash compassion everywhere we go".

Cortni Bazzle has assumed the role of Director of Communication. She is responsible for leading a comprehensive internal and external communications plan for the church which will result in better communications, more easily accessible information and a bigger on-line presence. Cortni will work with the church staff and the congregation to communicate on-going church activities using a variety of communications forums, to reach members of the congregation, prospective members, and those outside of the church community.  Cortni will use her gifts related to social media, video production, creativity, writing, and organization to be successful in this crucial position on our staff. We thank Cortni for her 3 1/2 years of service as the Director of Children's Ministries. She has enjoyed building relationships with our children and their families during her time at DUMC and is excited to continue to be an integral part of the DUMC family and to interface with not only the children and their families, but with all members of the congregation, visitors and the community at large.

Jennifer Ingalls has assumed a newly-combined full-time role of Director of Pre-K and Children's Ministries. She has faithfully served DUMC as the Director of Pre-K Ministries for 8 years. As an integral part of the church vision, the church has decided to combine the pre-K ministries with the children's ministries under one director for more continuity throughout our children's ministries. Although pre-K and K-5th grade will continue to have their own unique properties, this role will allow for all children to follow the same curriculum, provide uniform check-in procedures for all children and will streamline the volunteer process. Jennifer's gifts of vision, attention to detail, organization, communication, relationship building with children, families, and volunteers at the church, and her passion for the children's programs make her a great fit for this new role. There are even more new exciting adventures on the horizon for the children of DUMC and Jennifer will lead a program that everyone will want to be a part of - children of all ages and volunteers alike.

Please congratulate and support Cortni and Jennifer in their new roles

Stewardship
With gratitude for your generosity this year, I am proud to say that Denver UMC is on a steady course to a strong finish in 2019. At this same time last year, we had received 71% of our annual budget, and if you recall, we ended the year with a $23K surplus. This year, we forecasted our annual expenses to come in at $1,288,807. So far, we’ve received 67% of this total estimate. To be within 5% of last year’s standing puts us in an excellent position to finish strong once again! Thanks to our staff and leaders acting as responsible stewards, our expenses are on track with our planned budget; and thanks to our faithful givers, our cash flow is remaining consistent. There are so many aspects in keeping our finances healthy and balanced, and we are excelling in all of these. As we head into the last quarter of the year, I feel very positive about what blessings God has in store for us.
