Our Mission Is To Maintain And Strengthen The City's Diversity, Equity, And Accountability.
Greetings!

This has been another week of big news. More and more members of our community in Los Angeles are getting vaccinated, giving us a glimpse of hope for the end of this long pandemic.

I was honored to join the Community Response System of South Los Angeles (CRSSLA) for a discussion on equity in the COVID-19 response, and to share some of the work we've been doing at LA Civil Rights. From PPE distribution to building equity in the testing and vaccine process, our department has been pushing to get more support for the most impacted in our city.

We've got a long way to go - and recovery from COVID-19 cannot be a return to business as usual - we have had enough of that. The old normal kept communities of color down, pushed many of us into the margins, and ignored the deep inequities across our society. It's time for a new future.

The only way to build that future is by standing together. This Friday, March 19th at 1 PM, I'll be hosting "No Place For Hate," a live televised event standing up to hate in Los Angeles. We're bringing together city and community leaders to talk about resources available to victims, condemn hate against Asian American and Pacific Islanders, and work together toward common solutions.

I hope you join us on Channel 35 or our Facebook page - and continue working with us to build a brighter future for Los Angeles.

Upcoming Events:
Join LA Civil Rights, Mayor Eric Garcetti, City Attorney Mike Feuer, Councilmember Nithya Raman, LAPD Chief Bea Girmala, Manjusha Kulkarni of Stop AAPI Hate and more for No Place For Hate, a live, televised event on the resources and reporting tools available to victims of hate. This event is for vulnerable communities as well as allies to learn more about the city and community resources available, as well as crucial information for keeping our city safe from hate. We all have a role to play in stopping hate and supporting a diverse and empowered Los Angeles.
