The Social Justice Committee is coming back - help make a difference!
Does the number of homeless people living in tents bother you? Are you concerned at the number of states that have passed restrictive voting laws? Does the plight of refugees touch your heart?  Are you troubled by treatment of African Americans in our country? Do you feel for the plight of Native Americans loss of land and fishing rights? Would you like to be part of a Christ-like response to some of these issues?!

Some of the above issues are addressed by the St. Vincent de Paul Conference and the North Deanery Community Dinner Project.

If you are interested in these or other social justice issues,
please contact Joyce Farrell at 206-784-8868 or Joycefarrell08@gmail.com
and we can work together to make a real a difference.

November is Stewardship Month!
Please Renew Your Stewardship Pledge for 2022!

Thank you to the over 120 families who have already made their Stewardship pledge! Fr. Crispin asks that each family in our community prayerfully discern their financial commitment to St. John for the coming year.

The weekly offertory helps to sustain our parish financially to be able to serve the ministries of St. John and the wider community.  Because of the ongoing pandemic and increased inflation, our budget numbers continue to be affected. If you are able, would you consider an increase in your pledge? Even $3.00 a week will make a big difference. Know that each and every gift is greatly appreciated. PLEDGE HERE NOW!

If you haven’t watched this year’s State of the Parish video yet, please take a look. It shows our current financial picture and highlights the great things you have helped St. John accomplish in the last year.  CLICK HERE to watch it.
The St. John Girl Scouts Christmas Craft Sale is back this year, happening on Sunday, December 5 after the morning masses! GIVING THANKS

At this time of Thanksgiving, Our St. Vincent de Paul Conference gives thanks for:

Our financial donors. Thanks to the generous financial support of so many of our parishioners, between January 1, 2021 and September 30, 2021 we have received donations of over $23,500.

Those who donate food. We take food from our pantry to those whom we meet when we go on calls. Any food that we don’t use is taken to other parishes or to the food bank in Georgetown. From January 1 through the end of September, we’ve helped 157 people with food.

Our volunteer members. There are currently 16 of us. From the first of this year until the end of September our members volunteered more the 550 hours, even though much of that time we were unable to visit needy neighbors in their homes as we usually do.

Our parish. While we were in lock-down, our parish staff counted contributions for us. The parish also provides space for us to use as our pantry and facilities for our meetings.

Please continue your support, and pray for us. We expect calls for help to increase as special pandemic funding ends.
Laudato Si
in Action
The important thing is to realise that He is with you
On October 16, Pope Francis spoke to the Fourth World Meeting of Popular Movements. This meeting brings together the Vatican and the representatives of a number of groups across the globe who stand up for the rights of the poor and excluded. Our Holy Father's message was so frank and poignant that for a few columns I decided to share a few excerpts of our Pope's message without comment. Here are the last few paragraphs of the Holy Father's message:

Our school theme this year is:
“Together We Can: Walk with Justice, Love with Mercy, and Walk Humbly with God”. This year we will focus on how we can walk humbly with God by following the steps of saints, and learning how to be the best version of ourselves for God.
November
During the month of November, we will count our blessings as we come together in Thanksgiving. Let’s be like our Saint of the month, Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati. He joined St. Vincent de Paul at 17 and served the sick, needy, orphans, and vets. We can continue our devotion to Mary as he did where he prayed to her and received the Eucharist daily. Students will learn how to be responsible, active learners who resolve conflict and treat others as children of God.
