Good Afternoon All -
I hope the end of the week finds you well. Almost half way through June and our region has finally entered Phase II. With the Governor attaching Outdoor Dining to Phase II, our building department has been full throttle in processing temporary permits for those who wish to partake. If your business would like to host outdoor dining, please know that there is a permit application to fill out, a survey to be submitted and you must file an affirmation with the State of New York. All of this can be found on the Town of Orangetown's
Kickstart webpage. And please - feel free to call (845) 359-8410 x 4301 if you have any questions at all.
I commend our residents and our business owners for their strength, resiliency and determination to see your way through Governor Cuomo's "Stay in Place" Executive Order. There were days when it definitely wasn't easy and I have no doubt there are many amongst us who never thought it would end, but here we are - almost half way through Phase II, with Phase III just around the corner.
I am honored to have been asked by several Orangetown religious leaders to participate in a virtual program, where everyone will speak briefly about recent events, including how our community and nation respond to people of color, demonstrations and more. The program will be on June 17
th
at 7:30 pm. For more information, please email
Supervisor@Orangtown.com.
Please continue to stay safe.

On Saturday, June 13th, there will be a car parade throughout Orangetown to acknowledge those businesses who have been allowed to re-open. With the route finalized, we are excited to announce that for the first time ever, the Town of Orangetown will celebrate the re-opening of businesses as one as we will travel through all the Villages and Hamlets.
We are lining up in Lot J of the Palisades Mall. We will leave at 12:00pm and head to the Village of Nyack first.
Below are the approximate times we will be in your hamlet or village:
Nyack: 12:10 pm
South Nyack and Grandview-on-Hudson: 12:20 pm
Piermont: 12:30 pm
Sparkill: 12:40 pm
Tappan: 12:50 pm
Orangeburg: 1:00 pm
Blauvelt: 1:10 pm
Pearl River: 1:30 pm
Phases I and II are now in full swing and with the anticipation of Phase III just over a week away, we are overjoyed that there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel.
For those who enjoy visiting Nyack, please note their good news:
Nyack will close two downtown streets Friday, June 12, from 3:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. to allow restaurants and businesses to expand outside into the street.
Closing 3:30-11 p.m.:
- Main Street: Franklin Street to Broadway
- Broadway: High Avenue to Burd Street
"Coronavirus pandemic has taken a toll on our Village. It is with deep regret that we have watched businesses close their doors, some temporary, others permanent. While it will take years to fully recover, the Village is committed to doing our part for the business community - the heart of Nyack," village officials said on the website. "We are working with our business community and exploring options to support them as we enter Phase 2 of the reopening plan."
To that end, the village is trying to expedite the outdoor seating permit process. Contact the Building Dept for more information at
buildingdepartment@nyack-ny.gov
or call 845-358-4249.

Pet of the Week
Henry Nugget Bayleaf is a 6lb three year old chihuahua rescued from a bus depot in Bayridge Brooklyn. Henry relocated to Nyack with his human parents this past week and is loving his new home, particularly the Old Erie Trail and the multitude of chipmunks, squirrels and birds he can now chase. Henry loves long hikes, trail running with his mom, and eating anything he can get his paws on. He also enjoys napping in the sun, barking at anyone riding a bike and having his belly rubbed.

Flag Day
On June 14, 1777, the Second Continental Congress took a break from writing the
Articles of Confederation
and passed a resolution stating that “the flag of the United States be 13 stripes, alternate red and white,” and that “the union be 13 stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation.”
Over 100 years later, in 1916,
President Woodrow Wilson
marked the anniversary of that decree by officially establishing June 14 as Flag Day.

Masked Warriors Donation
A million thanks to Sabrina Roffman and The Masked Warriors Project and their donation of 330 masks to our employees. We can't thank you enough for all the time, effort and energy you and your crew have put into making these masks.
They are more than comfortable and enjoyable to wear. And the many different styles, colors and the mask clips you provided - you definitely went above and beyond to accommodate all of us.
Your generosity is very much appreciated.
