Rites of passage really are beautiful things. Whether it’s a first communion, a quinceañera, a Bar/Bat Mitzvah, a vision quest, a walkabout, or sanskaras, these rituals signify the movement from one stage of life to another.

College Visits

For the week of Sept. 23-27, representatives will be on campus from: Colgate University, Drexel University, Duke University, Elon University, Georgetown University, Goucher College, Hendrix College, Hillsdale College, Holy Cross, Lehigh University, Miami University of Ohio, Occidental College, University of Redlands, Reed College, University of Richmond, Seattle University, Syracuse University and Willamette University.

Master Planning Sessions - Sept. 24 & 26

As we move forward on creating a new Master Plan for Keystone, we have gathered input from various members of the Keystone community: students, faculty and staff, alumni and the Board of Trustees. 

This plan will guide the future of the campus for many years to come and have engaged architects from Overland Partners to help us create a new Master Plan. This plan will re-imagine the entire main campus, including the Hildebrand House that was purchased three years ago, as well as the buildings and grounds of the Little School. 

The next sessions are for parents of alumni and current Keystone parents. Here are the dates:

  • Parents of alumni – Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 6:30 pm – Flex Lab
  • Keystone parents – Thursday, Sept. 26 at 8:30 am – Dining Hall
  • Keystone parents – Thursday, Sept. 26 at 6:30 pm – Flex Lab
Our colleagues at San Antonio Academy are presenting a speaker that may be of interest to Keystone families.

Psychologist Rob Pluke, author of "Parenting the Sensitive Child," and "A son to be proud of and his father's hopes, disappointments and discoveries," will deliver a talk at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 26.

PTO General Meeting - Oct 2
Parents are invited to attend the PTO General Meeting  on Wednesday, October 2nd at 6pm  in the Flex Lab of the Shadfan Science and Creativity Center with a brief social starting at 5:30 pm. 

Alison Raymer and Dr. Erica Shapiro, Keystone Counselors, will be our guest speakers at the meeting, and will speak about the important role that resilience and maintaining a growth mindset play in the lives of our students and families. Alison and Erica will also provide specific, age-appropriate tools for helping our children navigate challenges and change. There will be opportunity for Q&A as well.

Paying for College Night - Oct 2

All Upper School parents are invited to attend a session on paying for college on Oct. 2 from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Theater.

Christina Pikla, Director of Financial Aid at Trinity University, will be our guest speaker again this year. The program will include an overview of financial aid, both merit and need-based, the application process for aid, advice for families, and Q &A. We’ve decided to offer this program every year due to the importance of understanding the financial aid process when applying to college.
