JOIN SCC FOR CULTURAL COMPETENCY AND HEALTH LITERACY MASTER TRAINING

The communities we serve are growing in cultural and linguistic diversity. There is a need to inspire cultural change within organizations.

On  Tuesday, February 25, 2020, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm , SCC will be holding Cultural Competency and Health Literacy (CCHL) Master Training, an interactive program in which participants will have hands-on learning experience to build better communities.

Post-training, Master Trainers will receive a certificate of completion and will be able to provide training sessions. Master Trainers will be able to facilitate two different trainings: (1) 2 hour CCHL training sessions for workforce professionals and (2) 7.5 hour master training sessions for future master-trainers.

Participants must apply by end of business  Tuesday, February 18, 2020.   Please note, completing the application does not confirm attendance to this program. Upon completing the application, you will receive follow up from a CCHL lead with next steps. For more information on the CCHL program click here .

Northwell Health's Katz Institute for Women's Health will be hosting a panel of doctors from Huntington Hospital, Southside Hospital, Mather Hospital and the Peconic Bay Medical Center who will share their expertise in the areas of cardiology, orthopedics, obstetrics & gynecology and urogynecology.

DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM

NYS DOH ANNOUNCEMENTS

NYS DRUG UTILIZATION REVIEW BOARD IN SEARCH OF NEW MEMBERS  
The NYS Department of Health (the Department) is seeking new members for the Medicaid Drug Utilization Review Board (DURB).  The DURB plays a major role in the State's Medicaid program by establishing medical standards and criteria for Drug Utilization Review (DUR) programs, developing educational interventions for physicians and pharmacists, reviewing therapeutic classes in the Medicaid fee-for-service (FFS) Preferred Drug Program (PDP) and making recommendations for supplemental rebates.  

The Department is seeking candidates residing in New York State, for the following open seats:
  • Two physicians licensed to practice in NYS.  Expertise in mental health and/or primary care is preferred.
  • Two consumers or representatives of organizations with a regional or statewide constituency who have been involved in activities related to health care consumer advocacy, including issues affecting Medicaid recipients.
