TikTok for Business National Block Party
Register for this free, one-of-a-kind block party to learn how you can uniquely position your company for growth simply by adding TikTok to your social media advertising schedule. Although TikTok began with dance trends, it has transformed into a distinctive, powerful new growth channel for small businesses. It's platform allows you to tell your story, connect with a vast audience, and drive growth to your business in a new and innovative way.

This free virtual workshop will offer answers to the following three key questions:

  • What makes TikTok a unique and powerful addition to your current marketing plan
  • How to create content audiences will love, without large budgets and teams
  • Why and how to get started using TikTok

This one-hour online workshop will be held on Thursday, November 18th at 10:00 am.
How to Protect Yourself from Ransomware Attacks, According to Cybersecurity Experts and Victims
Here's an interesting face: every 11 seconds business servers, including small-business servers, are invaded by hackers that encrypt and hold their data hostage. Paying the ransom is one way to handle such an attack. This article will explain why that's not usually not the best way to handle a data-hostage situation. It will also provide real-life examples of what other businesses have done successfully instead of paying the ransom and what cybersecurity experts are saying.

A Sneak Peek at 6 New Laws in 2022
Due to limitations in the number of bills legislators could pass this year to COVID-19, California luckily received far less employment-related bills than in prior years.

With that said, certain bills that did pass will drastically change how some employers do business in the state of California.

Small Business Tax Credits Available
Your business may qualify for a tax credit! Available credits are limited, so don’t delay!

The 2021 Main Street Small Business Tax Credit II will provide COVID‑19 financial relief to qualified small business employers. We will be accepting online applications to reserve tax credits from November 1 - 30, 2021. The application period may close earlier if the credits run out. Qualified small business employers may apply to reserve $1,000 per net increase in qualified employees, up to $150,000 in tax credits to offset the tax due on either their income tax or sales and use tax return.

The credit applies to California small businesses that:

  • Employed 500 or fewer employees as of December 31, 2020, and
  • Experienced a decrease of 20 percent or more in income tax gross receipts by comparing specified periods.

Credits are limited and available on a first come, first‑served basis. Find out how to apply, and if your small business qualifies, by visiting our 2021 Main Street Small Business Tax Credit II webpage.
