Board of Education Meeting Re-cap

The Fairview Park Board of Education held a Regular Board Meeting on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. in the cafetorium at Gilles-Sweet Elementary.

Highlights Include:

  • The Board approved a Resolution providing for the issuance and sale of bonds in the maximum principal amount of $8,000,000 for the purpose of refunding for debt charges savings certain of the school district's outstanding school improvement refunding Bond Series 2013, dated January 3, 2013. The Board also approved a Resolution providing for the issuance and sale of bonds in the maximum principal amount of $7,830,000 for the purpose of refunding for debt charges savings certain of the school district's outstanding school improvement refunding Bond Series 2012, dated July 18, 2012. To summarize, this means that the bonds held by the district for past building improvements may be re-financed during a specific timeframe. Savings will directly impact taxpayers by a reduction in millage on property taxes. Mike Prcela with Sudsina & Associates provided an overview of the district’s existing bonds and the process for refunding debt charges and savings certain of the school district's outstanding school improvement. 


  • Mr. Chris Vicha, Fairview High School/Mayer Middle School Campus Principal, shared an overview of the recent Performing Arts Leadership Camp. Mrs. Chrissy Karliak, Vocal Music Director, and several students also shared their experience.

  • Superintendent Bill Wagner provided a comprehensive overview of the 2019 Ohio School Report Card and the historical AP and ACT scores for the district. Documents referenced may be found here:

Please note the following changes to upcoming meetings:

The special board meeting/work session originally scheduled for October 1 will now be held on October 3 at 6:30 p.m. in the Gilles-Sweet Cafetorium.

The October 2019 Regular Board Meeting originally scheduled for October 15 will now be held October 16 at 6:30 p.m. in the Gilles-Sweet Cafetorium. This is so that members of the Board may attend Polaris Career Center's ribbon cutting ceremony.
