The regionalization of the Thompson-Okanagan creates a co-operative opportunity for Minor Hockey Associations to focus on grassroots player development and player recruitment. The
New Era of Hockey
session will offer Associations the opportunity to lead the discussion on the future of programming offered at the local level for 2020 and beyond.
The
Female Hockey
seminar
will review female teams and playing opportunities for the 2019-2020 season, and discuss female recruitment and retention initiatives. The seminar will be led by BC Hockey's Female Hockey Manager Allie Moore and Thompson-Okanagan Female Zone Lead Val Kloska.
In the
Athlete/Coach Development
seminar, we will introduce the philosophy, content, and structure of the Atom Pathway, and present an abbreviated version of the program showing the current phase of the program. We will showcase the current MHAs piloting the Atom Pathway program in BC Hockey, discuss our communication plan of the program and introduce the regional staff contacts in the area.
The
Registrars Meetings
will be led by Nonie Miyazaki will review team registration and review BC Hockey and Hockey Canada registration policy. This will provide an opportunity to review the processes and best practices using the Hockey Canada Registry (HCR) along with an opportunity for Associations who use the TeamSnap integration tool to share their experiences.
The
Officiating Retention and Development
workshop will be led be BC Hockey Referee in Chief, Sean Raphael, New strategies for recruiting officials will be explored and a review of the mentorship program including techniques and effective learning tools will be discussed.
