Words from Weisner
Our 6th grade just completed their visit to Mohican in the Outdoors. As always, it was both a learning experience and a time to work together on science and other outdoor activities. They even had the opportunity to do rafting this year (with life jackets!).

We will be sending home information about the St. Catharine Advisory Board. They are looking for candidates for the board who will replace those who have completed their terms on the board. We have an active and involved board that works to support the mission of St. Catharine School. If you think you might be interested in sitting on the board, please submit a short biography (3 – 5 sentences) that informs about your interest in St. Catharine School and also grades your children are attending. We would like this information by next Wednesday, September 18. Please send it into my attention or email me at jweisner@cdeducation.org

Thanks also to Mrs. Esterly and Mrs. Payer for their time and effort on the Mumkin sale. The proceeds will be sent to the playground fundraising project.

We continue to move ahead with the playground. We are waiting for additional information on the drainage of the field areas. Once we have those final inspections, we will be ready to place our order for the equipment. More information will be sent once we start on this project (hopefully in October).

Thanks to all our parents who have volunteered to help in the cafeteria and playground. I appreciate their time and help. If you are able to give us a little of your time each month to assist in these two areas, we would be grateful!

Room Parents
Interested in helping your kiddo’s class as a room parent? The role requires: communicating with your teacher and assessing her needs (i.e., coordinate volunteers for class parties or field trips), and communicating with your class primarily via email about things relevant to your class. Remember this counts toward your 50-hour volunteer requirement. Just email Jen Hadden ( jenniferphadden@gmail.com ) with your interest or any questions

Creative Activities Program (CAP ) is in need of volunteers to help lead clubs for the fall sessions.Clubs are open to grades 1-8 and one day a week after school from approximately 3:00 to 4:00. The fall session dates are from Oct. 7 to Nov. 15. Please consider giving an hour per week on the day of your choice to lead a club. This would be a great way to earn volunteer hours and can be anything from Legos to gardening to science club. I am happy to help with any ideas and materials to get your club started. We also will reimburse you for all materials used.
Our students really enjoy participating in after school clubs but it is essential for parent involvement to keep these clubs going.
Please contact Jasmine Williams at Jasmine.williams03@ymail.com by Sept. 27 if you are interested. Potential ideas: Archery, Board games, Dodgeball, Lego (CAP has a large collection of Legos for use), Puzzles, Rocket Building/STEM, Sewing
