High Holidays Kibbudim
- Social Hall Minyan Important Message
|
If you plan to attend the Social Hall Minyan this Rosh Hashanah and/or Yom Kippur, and have not yet signed up, we ask that you let us know as soon as possible by replying to this email or to Ricky Shatz directly at [email protected]. Although you still need to sign up with the shul office, this will enable the gabbaim at the Social Hall Minyan to properly plan for the High Holiday services and allocate the kibbudim efficiently and in a timely manner. If we do not hear from you by September 15, 2019, the gabbaim will assume that you will not be attending the Social Hall Minyan on either Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Rabbi Dr Meir Soloveichik a High Holiday Lecture Series
|
|
|
Dear Friends,
As we approach the Yamim Noraim, we are launching our annual Kol Nidre appeal and the Shul needs your support. The Kol Nidre appeal is a major source of revenue for the Shul to fund its annual budget.
As you know, keeping the Shul open, secure and
active 365 days a year is tremendously expensive.
Our annual dues cover only approximately 50% of
the Shul's annual operating expenses, which are
now approximately $1.6 million. While our
membership has given generously in the past, we strongly believe that we can do better and ask that
you consider increasing your Kol Nidre donation by
10% this year.
As a leading Modern Orthodox community, we are always looking for ways to devise meaningful and impactful programming for every single member of
our Shul, spanning all generations.
In addition to our daily Torah learning opportunities, our community consistently hosts world-class Rabbis and speakers, such as: Rabbi Dr. Meir Soloveichik,
Rabbi Joseph Telushkin, Rabbi Dr. Jacob J. Schacter,
Sgt. Benjamin Anthony, Rav Shalom Rosner and more
- which provides everyone with high level and
thoughtful opportunities to expand our knowledge
of Torah, Jewish history and Medinat Yisrael. Also,
this past year, in conjunction with the Sisterhood,
we created the popular Torateinu Women's Learning Forum that featured five dynamic female educators
from schools in the Tri-State area, including special engagements with community scholar, Ora Weinbach. With spirited Tefillah always in mind, we continue to have our inspiring Chazzanim - Johnny Shlagbaum, Mordy Weinstein and, our newest addition, Chazzan Craig Resmovits. For our children, we are thrilled to
have engaged Atara & Yoram Roschwalb as our new Directors of Youth Programming. Their energy, passion and creativity will positively impact our children every time they walk into our shul on Shabbat morning,
or for special programming on the holidays and throughout the year. We are also sure that our vibrant teen programming will only be enhanced by their presence, as we couple them with other meaningful Chesed Shabbatonim and educators in residence.
It goes without saying that your participation in this campaign is critical to the continued operation of our Shul in a manner that effectively serves the needs of
the community today and ensure the Shul's
continued operations for years to come.
Please make your Kol Nidre pledge as soon as
possible by either:
(1) using the pledge form enclosed with the
mailing that you received,
Please remember to log in to your account with your
username and password and select "Kol Nidre 5780" under the Donation tab. If you wish to pledge anonymously using the website, you should
indicate this in the "Notes/Comments" section.
or
(3) contacting any of the committee members listed below.
As in past years, a roll of honor will be prominently displayed in the lobby of the Shul, identifying the participants in the Kol Nidre Appeal at the following contribution levels:
Urim v'Tumim ($10,000) Yahalom ($7,500)
Sapir ($5,000) Shoham ($3,600)
Argaman ($2,500) Techeilet ($1,800)
Zahav ($1,000) Kesef ($500)
Nechoshet ($360)
As always, anonymous contributions are
welcomed and will be respected as such.
Thank you for you continued support and our
best wishes to you and your family for a healthy,
happy and prosperous New Year.
Sincerely,
Jake Goldstein, Farrah Gutwein, David Kauvar
Bruce Schneider, Gavin Westerman and Stuart Zisholtz

Dear Friends, We are pleased to announce that this year we will be once again be offering a "Shul School Lite" program on Monday evenings from 5-5:45pm during the 2019-2020 academic year beginning on Monday, September 23, 2019. Our "Shul School Lite" program is geared towards boys and girls who are currently in public or private schools that are outside the traditional Jewish Day School system. It affords the ability for everyone in our communal orbit to receive engaging Jewish/Hebrew enrichment classes taught by our Rabbinic and educational staff within the embracing confines of our Shul. We offer three groups during "Shul School Lite" in which we will have fun learning experiences along with snacks. The groups are listed below based on grade level: K-2: Playing with Prayer: The Rudiments of Jewish Prayer, Hebrew Reading, and Fun Interactive Word Games 3-5: Popcorn and Parsha: Stories from the Torah and Lessons from the Weekly Parsha Middle School: Munching on Mishna: In-Depth Study of Mishna and Interactive Discussion on the Weekly Parsha. The sessions will be led by dynamic educational professionals: Rabbi Nuriel Klinger, Edna Krausz and our Israeli Shlichot. The cost is $550/child for the year. To register for "Shul School Lite"
