Mission Collection
Our first Missions Collection for the 2019-2020 year will be Thursday, September 19, to support the Pontifical Mission Aid Societies in the United States through the Diocese of Harrisburg.

It seems hard to believe that there are still billions of people who have not yet heard the "Good News" of Jesus. That is why the Pontifical Mission Aid Societies exist in the Church: namely, to promote mission awareness among the baptized and support for the spread of the Gospel. The Diocese of Harrisburg has been blessed with generous and faithful people who respond with sacrificial generosity to these mission aid societies. Since the Missions Office began in the diocese in 1924, countless missionaries have benefited from the prayers and support offered year after year. Thank you for answering the call to the "missionary spirit" through your support of this holy work of the Church.

Policy Update from the Dean of Students
Thank you to our parents for partnering with us to reinforce the school handbook policies and procedures. The students have been particularly respectful to start this school year, to the point where several teachers have noticed and offered compliments. I'm writing with a few updates regarding a couple of items that have come across my desk more frequently in the last few days of this week.

First, with the distribution of student Chromebooks this week, several students have inquired regarding cases for their Chromebooks. The IT department has approved the following cases, available on Amazon, for our students. Families wishing to purchase these cases on their own may do so. Please note only the cases linked below will be acceptable for the YC student Chromebooks.

For Asus model C300s: 11th and 12th grades students

For Asus model C423: 10th grade students

For Asus model C202: 8th and 9th grade students:

Second, based on several conversations with students, teachers, and families, there is a need to amend/clarify the backpack policy at this time. Please see below for an updated policy. Also, please know that nothing resembling a backpack, even the purses that have backpack straps, are permitted.

Backpacks - Grades 7-12
Students are allowed to bring book bags and backpacks to school.  Upon arrival to the building, however, students must proceed directly to their locker and store the backpack/book bag there for the duration of the school day.  During the day, students will be limited to pencil cases. Female students are permitted to carry small, one strap purses no larger than 8 inches by 6 inches.

If you have any questions, please contact Brad Hayek, Dean of Students, at [email protected] or 717-8460-8871 x344.

SCOIR Program Activated for Juniors
P arents of current juniors should check their emails for registration information for the SCOIR program that will help you and your 11th Grade student navigate career exploration, the college selection, and application process.

As a parent, you will be able to view your student's interest profile, see their college list as it develops, conduct your own college searches, and suggest colleges for your student to consider. SCOIR also provides parents with financial tools so you can get a better sense of the estimated cost of attendance at various colleges during the selection process.

We are excited to be able to provide SCOIR to our 11th Grade students and families, and we feel confident you will find it helpful and easy to use. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Phillips at [email protected].
Military Info Share
Parents of Juniors and Seniors:  The school is obligated to give names, addresses, and phone numbers of our juniors and seniors to the armed services upon their request, unless parents opt out of having the information shared.  If you do not want us to share your student's information with the military, please contact Mrs. Sheila Gick at 717-846-8871 x317 or  [email protected]  indicating your wishes by September 13.

New Booster Club
Welcome to a new era at York Catholic. The school and athletic fields have transformed over the summer thanks to the "YCHS Family." As we look forward to ushering in this new era, we pray for the continued success and safety of our entire student body and York Catholic community.

While the school buildings and the athletic fields transform, our students desire to represent their "Irish Spirit" continues to grow. York Catholic students continue to strive for excellence on the field, the stage, and in the classroom. This desire for excellence is evident based on the continued success in all facets of the York Catholic student body and programs.

As we also transform from the York Catholic Athletic Association to the new York Catholic All Sports Booster Club, we must continue to express our gratitude to all the volunteers, donors, and parents who give tirelessly to support the mission of York Catholic and its students. Stay tuned for information on our new structure, and to find out how you can become more involved. Your support is the backbone to our success, and we look forward to many more successful years.

To our senior athletes, build on your experiences at York Catholic and prepare to leave it better for those who come next. Continue to strive for greatness in all you do and success will follow. Your senior year will go by fast, so be sure to prop each other up and give thanks to your parents, teachers, and coaches who have guided your journey while here at York Catholic.
