The Spiritual Practice of Novelty
Rev. David Wynn

It’s been said that in the grip of tradition, we miss out on novelty. It’s not that we don’t need the wisdom that comes with tradition, we just need to be mindful that wisdom doesn’t get lost in the status quo. The church struggles with novelty, that energy that draws us to excitement, challenge, and the unfamiliar and that never leaves us unchanged. We trend toward the comfort of routine and familiar…that can be healing in balance, but out of balance we just become passive, numb, and uninspired. We’ve got a novel service brewing for Sunday…are you ready for something new? If your answer was yes, come on! If your answer was no, then your really need to be there!
See you Sunday!
Sprit Café meets tomorrow night.

Agape MCC is now set up to receive money through Zelle.

Use the agapemccchurch@gmail.com email address to send donations/tithes and the funds will be deposited into our church account that day. There are no fees associated with using Zelle.

Most major banking institutions are supporting Zelle, if your bank does not, you can download the Zelle app from your app store at no cost.

Thank you in advance for the many ways you support our community!
It is that time of year again.

Mark your calendars for the Congregational Forum November 3rd and the Congregational Meeting November 10th. Both meetings will follow the morning worship services.

The Board of Directors (BOD) has begun preparations for this year's congregational meeting. The BOD began work on the budget for 2020 during the August BOD Meeting, reviewed the rolls and assigned reports during the September BOD Meeting. In addition, the Agape' Members will be electing 2 Board positions, 1 Lay Delegate and 1 Alternate Lay Delegate during the Congregational meeting this year.

Applications are now available in the Narthex and on our website. Please prayerfully consider running for one of the elected positions. Completed applications are to be returned to Rev. Wynn no later than Sunday, October 20th.

The Board of Directors and Lay Delegate are both 3 year terms.

Holy One

We know you in so many ways, may all those be acknowledged here.

In this world of ours, you call to us. You call to us in ways that we can understand and in ways that are beyond comprehension. You invite us to co create with you, to heal with you, to care with you and to speak with you. Help us to open deeply and know the wisdom of our hearts. Help us to understand in ways that come with searching for what is not there. Help us to engage and wrestle with challenges that seem to overwhelm us. Helps us to ride the waves of chaos and not to be swept away. Blow through us, clear the cobwebs from our minds and help us to see anew with fresh insight.

We lift our thanks for the heart of our church, for each congregation, for every person who comes to our table. Help us to open wide and wider still, saying “Come, taste and see”. We lift our thanks to the laborers in the field; our pastors and chaplains, our professors and theologians, for our caretakers and care givers. We lift our thanks for the spirit of cooperation shared by MCC staff as we journey. We lift our thanks for the spirit seekers, our council of elders. We lift our thanks for vision seekers and speakers, prophets and moderators.

We are filled with gratitude for this earth, for all of you, and for our loving God.

May our thanks be known by our words, our actions, and our love.

May we respond always with love.

In all the ways we know and love you, we offer this prayer.

Amen.
