Edward Smith

Dr. Edward Smith is currently the Senior Chaplain for the Dallas County District Attorney offices, being recognized by the Dallas DA Excellence Award in 2018 and Volunteer of the Year in 2017. His experience as a chaplain is also demonstrated as the Director of the Dallas County Community College Police Department Chaplain Corp (where chaplains give support to the police officers on the seven campuses that make up the college district); Chaplain for Criswell College Police Department; and Chaplain for the City of West Police Department.

Dr. Smith teaches at the Sam Houston State Law EnforcementManagement Institute of Texas on the subjects of Resiliency Lessons learned from the Dallas, DART, and Baton Police Department shootings in 2016; Community Policing; and the Importance of Chaplaincy in Law Enforcement. Dr. Smith also teaches on law enforcement chaplaincy and is helping train, establish, and/or expand chaplaincy in police and sheriff offices throughout Texas.

Dr. Smith has trained thousands of chaplains as well as crisis and disaster responders, first as the President of Victim Relief Ministries, which deployed in partnership many times with Somebody Cares to places such as Haiti, Japan, West TX, Moore OK, Joplin MO, Hurricane Sandy, and Aurora CO. He is currently serving as Executive Deputy Director of Crisis Response Ministry (CRM); Founder of Chaplain Ministries Global; and in partnership with Heartland Response as Director of Chaplaincy.

In his time as Vice Presidnet of Primus University of Theology (PUT), he established many programs around chaplaincy and education and authored three book, including  Chaplains- Keepers of the Cloak and Doers of the Word.
