NEWS AND INFORMATION
Building Habits (BH):
Starting the year right means getting into healthy habits from the get-go. Check back weekly to learn ways to help your family gear up for student success all around campus!

Reading...again?! Yup. It’s the biggie around here. We have a new reading incentive and reporting program up and running now, called Read N Quiz. Kids read books, take tests, get tallied, and share with others about their latest book conquests. Great stuff! Help monitor some good reading time with your children. Don’t have time tonight to read to them? Connect to one of the many reading apps our teachers have sent home through their clasroom newsletters. Some of these apps allow students to hear a narrator read the articles, books, stories to listeners. Some even highlight the words as they are read so listeners can “follow along”. (Remember putting a finger beneath words or syllables? Here’s the digital way...hey, digit means finger!) Enjoy!

Prayers Week 3:   Prayers Week 4: For our teachers and their classes in Grades 4 & 5 homerooms: Mrs. Siegert and Mrs. Hallett. Strengthen them as they get their students moving further toward independent learning and reasoning.
Patriot Day!
Today we gathered to thank God for our country, our founding principles, and the work of those who protect and serve us. We remember with sadness, the evil intent of others to hurt our people on our country’s soil. We remember that we each can serve as a “first responder” with the Gospel to those who grieve and those who need comfort for any reason. Special thanks to  Zion Cub Scout Pack 120 who raised our flags and then led us in the pledges. We thank our Eighth Graders who read Bible passages appropriate to the day. And we thank our Braille Ministry members, parents/families, and community members who joined us for our special event. Blessings to you! Thank you for your kindness to each other and for honoring those who serve others.
Did you receive your Proof?
All proofs are officially online and emails have been sent out from Picture Day. If for any reason you did not print did not give your email address or it was illegible on the order form, you will not receive an email proof. In order to make sure Make-Up Day is attended by anyone that needs to take a make-up picture,
if you did not receive a proof via email they can do two things:
1.      Check their email junk/spam folder. If it is not there then,
2.      Email  support@ultimateexposures.com   with your name, your student's name, and your email address and they will send proofs right away.

Thanks so much!

Volunteers Needed

Consider joining the Children’s Ministry Sunday School Team. We are looking for adult volunteers on Sundays for the 10 am worship service, to teach the Children’s Message followed by a craft/snack. The Children’s message will be pre-made along with all the snacks or crafts needed. All you do is walk the children from the church during the Sermon to another room, read the message and follow the directions for the craft/snack, make sure the room is cleaned up and then walk the children back to Church to sit with their parents. All of this will be about 15-20 minutes of your time and you will receive a one hour credit of parent participation time. We encourage you to sign up with a friend as working in a team is more fun. You may read the message ahead of time through email or picking up a copy in the school office. You may sign up for just one Sunday during the year or you can be on a rotation of once a month for example such as the second Sunday of each month.
If you would like additional parent hours but prefer to work at home, we are looking for someone to be in charge of making a schedule the volunteers for each month and giving a weekly reminder to the volunteers of their upcoming commitment. Write in your email or phone number and Mrs. Tordil will contact you if you are interested. Great way to earn parent hours, receive 1 hour for 20 minutes of FUN with the kids! For more information Email Mrs. Tordil or call at 714-535-3600 ext. 410
