You Did it!
Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore, love is the fulfillment of the law. And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.”
Romans 13:10-11

I give thanks to all those who helped us in the gift of love to our neighbors in Uganda, giving funds to buy food and needed items during this difficult time of lockdown.  There were actually people who cried and thanked God for receiving this gift of love. It is a great way to reach out to people during this hard time of limits. In Uganda, getting the virus under hand has not been so difficult because we have had to deal with deadly viruses and bacterial diseases for a long time. To name a few, Ebola, Typhoid Fever, Malaria on a regular basis, Hepatitis A, dysentery and others.

The hardest thing for the Ugandan people has been to shut down their small businesses in which they may make $1 to $2 a day to survive. It has been heart wrenching because in the past three years the weather has not been favorable to farming, which is their primary source of survival. We went through two very dry years and this year we have gone through almost solid rain and some flooding, not to mention the desert locusts who hit in northern Uganda. Our big challenge has been to address the starvation in our village as children are not in school where they usually are fed consistently.

God bless all of you who have given, and please know that it is not over. We will need to continue to give food and a few items like soap for a few more months, so we ask for your continued support. I have included a few pictures of the giving of the food.

Since we were on lockdown, we were only allowed two days for delivering the food and were given permission to use our truck to go to town and purchase for one week. We were able to reach 200 homes and then others, like the children in the pictures below, came to the office to receive theirs. These pictures are showing some of what we buy to give out. The children received 10 kilos of maize flour, 5 kilos of millet (very healthy), 5 kilos of beans, some sugar, tea, salt, 4 long bars of soap, and more. Please continue to help us with $30 for each food basket as we continue to help them to stay healthy.

I believe most of you are aware that I am separated right now from my children. I want you to know the surgery on my arm went well and I am healing nicely. I would go back in a few weeks if the airport was open for landing and allowing outsiders in. Unfortunately, this is not possible as yet, but you know I will head home as soon as the country allows. I am so thankful for Christine, our sponsorship administrator, that is working many hours to keep the ministry moving and coordinating food deliveries with the help of others as they can get to the office.

While I am in the U.S. I am keeping busy working with our home office staff and our board on many things.  One of these is that, though we have a strong group of Ugandan workers and leaders, the ministry has grown very much and we are seeking someone from the U.S. to join us on the mission field. Lord willing, I expect to continue my work there for quite a few more years, but God has blessed the ministry so much and this addition to our staff will be needed very soon as we are continuing to grow. We are hoping that you might be or know an experienced administrator that might feel a calling by God to venture out in such a capacity. We are including a brief paragraph about this position. Please pass the word on and pray for God to bring the right fit for this need.
God bless and love you all, Katherine
Operations Administrator

Serving as an integral member of this growing ministry, the Operations Administrator will manage the business, finances and human resource responsibilities of the field team while contributing to the implementation of the organization’s strategic goals, policies and procedures. This experienced leader will come alongside the ministry’s managers to develop them to fully meet their leadership potential. The position will report directly to the Founder/Field Director and will offer her administrative support to allow her to focus on programmatic oversight, as well as development, vision and leadership of HUM. The candidate must demonstrate a strong understanding of biblical concepts and world view and sense a calling to full-time mission field administration. This missionary position is open to a single or married candidate, will require full-time residence in the village of Kamonkoli and the willingness and ability to raise personal support.
