Griffin Spotlight: Ben Donnell '19, Darian Slabbaert '20, and Latin Teacher, Mr. Lockett
Alumnus, Ben Donnell builds Upper School Outdoor Classroom
Ben Donnell and his family were overwhelmed and so moved by the number of students and faculty who turned out. After the ribbon-cutting Ben was literally mobbed by Middle School students asking what Aristoi was like when he was a Kindergartner. He stood his ground well on the classroom platform, answered questions about Scouts and Aristoi, and shook many sticky hands (the popsicles melted quickly).

Congratulations to the 5th & 6th Grade Team - the Welcome was an enormous hit and a perfect, albeit hot, end to a terrific first week!
Darian Slabbaert '20, Expands Leadership Skills
Darian, a senior at Aristoi this year, went to the NSLC Intelligence and National Security career exploration program at American University in Washington, D.C. over the summer. The program offers many once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for students such as visiting the FBI headquarters, the CIA headquarters, and the Pentagon. The program also offers opportunities to expand and grow students' leadership skills via workshops, team building activities, and mock international tension simulations.
Mr. Lockett, Upper School Latin Teacher, plays King Claudius in The Sankofa Collective's production of Shakespeare's Hamlet
Mr. Lockett's mother would tell you that he has been doing theatre for a very long time, starting with little plays with puppets or action figures. Most recently, our very own Mr. Lockett performed as Claudius in a version of the Shakespearean show of Hamlet which was set in the 1980s in Nigeria.

Welcome New Students and Staff
The 2019 Fall Semester has started off with many new additions at Aristoi including 88 Kindergartners, 43 additional new students at the Elementary School, and 91 at the Upper School. New Upper School students were welcomed at the first annual, Prima Communitas - New Student Orientation, by student Ambassadors, the Aristoi Booster Club, Mrs. Davidson, Superintendent, and Headmaster, Dr. Moore.

Please also welcome new staff members to the Aristoi family including Dr. Moore, our new Headmaster!
