CPS Energy: Rolling Power Outages

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has instructed CPS Energy and other utilities to begin rotating managed outages, which should last 10-15 minutes before being rotated to a different neighborhood. These rolling blackouts are happening throughout the state and are necessary to help preserve the integrity of the Texas electric grid.

Some customers may experience longer outages if power surges cause equipment failure during the restoration process. Customers can minimize power surges by turning off appliances, lights, and other equipment, except for one light to determine when power has been restored.

CPS Energy asks for patience as their crews are also impacted by severe weather and road conditions. They will provide updates on the status of the rotating outages and outages related to the extreme weather throughout the day via their social media accounts. Please continue to conserve energy, stay off the roads, and be safe.

You can monitor the status of ERCOT in real-time by downloading the mobile app or by calling the Public Utility Commission of Texas Hotline at 1-888-782-8477.

You can also monitor power outages and report them on the CPS Energy Outage Map.

COVID-19 vaccine appointments for tomorrow are rescheduled to Saturday due to inclement weather
SAN ANTONIO (February 15, 2021) – As the City of San Antonio continues to monitor the local weather conditions, it has been decided to also reschedule all COVID-19 vaccine appointments at the Alamodome scheduled for tomorrow, February 16th to Saturday, February 20th at the same appointment times. Today’s appointments were rescheduled last week to take place on Friday, February 19th.

With the current icy conditions expected to remain until at least tomorrow, we want to ensure the safety of the public. We also want to remind the public who may be concerned about the small delay for their second dose, that we are still within CDC guidelines to ensure the vaccine will still work with no issues. Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines may be scheduled for administration up to 6 weeks (42 days) after the first dose.

Individuals who are scheduled for the stated dates will receive further communication through the email address or phone number provided with their registration. Please do not call 311 to confirm your appointment, they will all be automatically moved to Saturday.

As a reminder to the public, if they have a vaccine appointment at the Alamodome, we ask again that they arrive as close to their scheduled appointment time as possible. Please plan to arrive no more than 15 to 20 minutes prior to the scheduled appointment. By keeping appointment time as close to the scheduled time, it ensures that the vaccine process is efficient and without delay for others.

For more information, please visit covid19.sanantonio.gov/vaccine.
