RepMO Hero Nominations Open!
The Republic School District looks forward to honoring
staff members who go above the call of duty through the
RepMO
Hero program! Each month (
September-April) either a certified or classified employee from each of the building/department groups listed below will be honored for their part in implementing our district mission of preparing each student for a successful future. Those individuals will be recognized individually by their building/department group and by Central Office.
Then, a committee will review the nominations of those individuals and one employee will be chosen as the
RepMO
Hero of the Month. The
RepMO
Hero will receive $500 to be used at his/her discretion to purchase resources for his/her building/department. In addition, the
RepMO
Hero of the Month will be recognized at the following month's Board of Education meeting and through district
communication channels.
RULES/GUIDELINES:
- There is no limit on how many different employees you can nominate per month.
- Nominations will be accepted throughout each month using the deadlines below. Nominations will carry over.
- You can nominate ANYONE! They do not have to be a part of your nomination group (listed below).
NOMINATION GROUPS:
1. Custodial, nurses, aides/paras and food service building employees will be nominated by schools.
2. Departments will nominate
staff members according to the schedule.
3. School Resource Officers, Maintenance, and IT will combine for the nominations.
4. Central Office (including SPED office, Federal Programs office, and Food Service office) and CIA will combine for the nominations.
5. Transportation will nominate
staff members according to the schedule.
6. STRIPES 360
Staff members can be nominated by STRIPES or sites.
7. Sites can nominate an additional person from any of the departments in numbers 2 through 6.
NOMINATION SCHEDULE:
Per the above schedule, classified employees will be honored for the month of September. Between now and September 30 use the link below (form link also under the "Staff" tab on the website) to nominate a classified employee for RepMO Hero.

STAR Summit: Call for Presenters
 The seventh annual Shaping Teachers Across the Region Summit will be held the morning of November 5, 2019. New this year- We are changing our full day schedule to a ½ day of breakout professional learning sessions. Teachers and staff from Nixa, Ozark, Republic, and Willard School Districts will collaborate at this educational conference. The ½ day of professional learning will consist of grades 6-12 sessions at Nixa High School and grades Pre-K-5 at Ozark High School.
We are securing presenters at all grade levels and all content areas. We hope that you will consider presenting at this event! If you have a unique learning project or want to share your high impact instructional strategies - WE NEED YOU!
The maximum number of sessions that you can present is two 50-minute breakout sessions or one deep-dive session (1 hr 40 min). Payment is $50 per 50-minute session or $100 per deep-dive session (co-presenters share the session pay). If you choose two sessions, you can do the same presentation twice, or do two different presentations.

American Fidelity Visits
American
Fidelity
Assurance Company representatives will be in the district to provide the yearly employee benefit package review. This review is provided annually to all employees who work 20 hours or more, which include voluntary benefits offered through payroll deduction, plus the benefits of Section 125 Flexible Benefit Plan. Open enrollment for ancillary products will begin September 16 and run through October. This is the window of opportunity for employees to change or add
American
Fidelity
products for an effective date of January 1, 2020.
Each employee who qualifies (20 hours or more, double route bus drivers, and part-time retirees) for the 125 benefit program must sign off that they have been given the opportunity to view available products offered. Please know that no one should feel pressured to sign up for any product. This is the only opportunity for individuals who want added insurance to sign up for these benefits/services. The Individual meetings are mandatory to eligible employees in order to keep the district compliant with the legal IRS guidelines.

Fidelity will be in your building/department will be sent to you by your building secretary or supervisor. You will then be able to sign up for a time to review their products.

Things you need to know:
** All employees will need to fill out both forms and bring with you. CLICK HERE TO PRINT FORMS. This will help expedite the process. Our goal is to have you in and out in less than 5 minutes.
** Cost is covered by your school provided insurance. If you do not have school insurance, you can pay by check or cash, $30 (write check to Cox). Payment is due at that time.
**Transportation/Maintenance - Will have their own site this year! Sign up with Barb Kessen.
**All building employees will signup with their building nurse. You can use the other sites, but you will need to let your building nurse know at time of sign-up.
**Any pregnant employee must have in hand the written permission from your ob/gyn in order receive your flu shot here at school.
**No nasal mist, only injection is available and all are Thimerosal free.

Grandparents' Night
 We are excited to continue the tradition of welcoming grandparents and grand-friends into our EC and elementary buildings this fall! Below are the dates and times for these come and go events. All in attendance will have the opportunity to pick-up a free game pass for the RHS home football game against Joplin (Homecoming) on Friday, September 20 beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Monday, September 16:
Lyon and Schofield 5:00-6:30 p.m.
EC AM half day classes 5:00-6:00 p.m.
EC PM half day classes 6:15-7:15 p.m.
Tuesday, September 17:
McCulloch, Price and Sweeny (includes all day preschool) 5:00-6:30 p.m.

First Care to Wear Wednesday: September 18
 Thanks to everyone who signed up to participate in Care to Wear Wednesdays! $1300 was raised by district teammates who are participating!!!! AWESOME!!!!
Items are now ready for pick-up at Crackerjack Shack. For those who signed up, be sure to wear your Care to Wear gear next Wednesday, September 18 along with jeans! Also, be sure to send pictures in your gear to [email protected]!!!

SI Day, 9/27
There will be no school for students on Friday, September 27 for a scheduled School Improvement (SI) Day. For families in need of childcare, Cub Care through the STRIPES 360 program will be available for kindergarten through 8th grade students.

Dyslexia Learning Opportunities
As we continue to focus on best practices in literacy and ensuring success for all of our students as life-long readers, the CIA Department will once again be offering learning modules regarding Dyslexia. These modules are housed within Canvas and can be counted towards professional learning hours. If you were in district last year, this will be a good refresher and reminder. If you are new to Republic, this will be important information to add to your teaching resources. As more resources are available they will be added throughout the school year. Please contact Dr. Yonke if you have any questions.

Get FREE Newspapers for Your Classroom!
Republic teachers can get the local newspaper delivered to their classroom weekly through The Greene County Commonwealth's Newspapers in Education program.
NIE introduces newspapers to young readers and helps teachers bring the community into their classrooms.
Classroom subscriptions will be delivered weekly, September through April. Newspapers are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis; so, don't wait to sign up!

[email protected] with your name, school and how many copies you will need each week. Digital subscriptions are also available.
**This is a wonderful partnership the Greene County Commonwealth offers to our classrooms. We just ask that if you choose to use this service, you keep in mind the nature of content that can sometimes be included might not be appropriate for every grade level. Thank you!**

Elementary Progress & Grade Reports Distributed Electronically Starting 9/20
It's time to begin sharing student progress with our families! This year elementary progress and grade reports will be distributed via email (like secondary students receive) instead of distributing printed copies. Please make sure you have an updated email on file with your child's school office. The first progress report will be distributed on Friday, September 20. Students in 1st grade through 5th grade will receive their reports via email. However, kindergarten students will instead receive a hard copy in backpacks summarizing their progress from first quarter on September 20. As a reminder, the district utilizes the standards based grading system for elementary students. For details visit
