The testimonial below comes from an anonymous community member who recently received emergency financial assistance through the Jewish Hartford Rapid Relief and Recovery Fund. Dozens of individuals and families in our Jewish community have received emergency assistance totaling tens of thousands of dollars so far, thanks to the generous contributions of hundreds of donors. "I am an American-Israeli, an IDF veteran who has always devoted much professional time to humanitarian causes.

"Before making aliyah to Israel, I used to donate thousands of dollars to my local Jewish Federation. I knew I was doing good, but exactly how much and how deep I never knew until now. I work in public affairs and I'm over 50, so I suffer from age discrimination. The job market was already very difficult. Then COVID-19 appeared, and the work simply disappeared. My only safety net was a trust fund - but being that the courts are closed I had, and still have, no access to it.

"My rabbi in Connecticut, where I now live, informed me of a special financial assistance program through the Jewish Hartford Rapid Relief and Recovery Fund, developed by the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford and the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford in response to the medical and financial crisis many of us are now facing.

"I easily and quickly found the webpage at www.jewishhartford.org/get-help-covid19 . Within three days, the RRR Fund deposited emergency money into my bank account, which I am now using to pay rent.

"While I am still waiting for the Connecticut Department of Labor to process my unemployment claim, the RRR Fund responded with no delay. I have never witnessed a humanitarian effort such as this from the other side of the fence. It makes me proud to be a Jew. It makes me want to cry and hug everyone who has contributed." - An anonymous recipient
