IMPORTANT DATES:

Welcome back to school, Rockwell students and parents! It was hard for us not to be able to meet and greet everyone at the PTA table on the Dog Day. However, Rockwell PTA is still here to support parents and students of Rockwell.

Now more than ever, parents need to stay connected to help support children in any way we possibly can. With remote learning, activities and events are not the same, but our membership remains strong. We ask all parents to join our membership to be part of Rockwell PTA.

Parents Belong in PTA:
PTA stands for Parent Teacher Association. Every parents, teachers, even students are part of PTA. For only $18/person, you can become a PTA member, joining more than 4 million other people who share your interest in issues affecting children. Everyone—parents, educators, students and other citizens active in their schools and communities—is invited to join our not-for-profit parent association. The number one reason to join the Parent Teacher Association is to benefit your child. In doing so, you also help your school.

Advantages of PTA Membership:
-   Get Connected — There’s no better way to know what’s happening in your school.
-   Discover Great Resources —The PTA offers a variety of programs designed for students as well as parents.
-   Tap into a Network — PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, building rapport and discussing issues that are on your mind. You can share ideas, concerns, and experiences.
-   Speak Up —PTA can be a way for you to more effectively suggest change at your child’s school.
-   Be a Role Model —By becoming a PTA member, you’ll be demonstrating to your child the importance you place on education.
-   Enjoy Substantial Benefits — Individuals and local units can take advantage of a host of benefits from PTA membership including discounts and offers from member benefits providers and sponsors, magazine subscriptions, leadership training, e-newsletters and much more.

Virtual Back to School Dance Party
Hello Rockwell families! The PTA is excited to share news about our back to school virtual dance on September 18th. The PTA normally hosts a back to school BBQ in mid-September. We of course can't host a large in-person event like that this year, but we still wanted to offer a social gathering opportunity for the kiddos. We're hosting a separate dance party for each grade level, so that the kiddos can see familiar faces and spend time with their grade-level friends. See below for the schedule, and mark your calendars accordingly :) We're looking for volunteers who can help host/chaperone each dance "room." Please email events@normanrockwellpta.org if you're able to help.

We'd also love to hear your requests for songs to be played at the dance party. Please email events@normanrockwellpta.org with any suggestions/requests (keep in mind the requests need to be appropriate for kindergarten ears). For our international families, we're especially interested in hearing requests for fun pop or dance songs from your family's country of origin.

We know things are different (and, frankly, more difficult) this year. Please know that the PTA is eager to find ways to help the kids stay connected. If you have feedback or ideas about ways we can continue to support families, or to keep the children connected with their friends, please email events@normanrockwellpta.org

We look forward to seeing everyone at the dance party on September 18th!

2019-2020 YEARBOOK UPDATE

Please see the note below from Lifetouch, our yearbook vendor:

Dear Families,

Yearbooks are a tradition for schools throughout the US and Canada. At Lifetouch, we are humbled to be a part of providing that tradition. We know how important yearbooks are - especially in times like these.

We want to take a moment to acknowledge this year's delayed yearbook delivery is not what you, as our customers expect, nor deserve, from Lifetouch.

We want you to be aware that our primary yearbook production facilities are located in some of the states that are being hardest hit by the pandemic. We have prioritized the safety of our employees; and we are following all state and local health guidelines to create a safe working environment. Social distancing requirements mean that there are fewer people available to work at any given time. These changes have impacted our production schedule in meaningful ways.

We realize this has created a lot of frustration since we are currently unable to provide an estimated delivery time frame for your school's yearbook. Please know our teams are doing everything possible to get your yearbook to you. Shipping is monitored daily. As soon as your yearbook ships, your school will receive tracking information so they can arrange to distribute the yearbooks to the students and families in a manner that is best suited for everyone's safety.

As we navigate COVID-19, our intent is to provide you with a yearbook that your student will treasure for a lifetime. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this unprecedented time together.

Sincerely,

Lifetouch
