PA MUSEUMS MEMBERSHIP

It's time to renew for PA Museums' members with September expiration dates.

We are now using Wild Apricot for our membership management tool, and your institution will be among the first to be invoiced through this portal. To sign in, please visit www.pamuseums.wildapricot.org , click “forgot password,” and enter your email address. When Wild Apricot sends you an email, you can create a password, and access your account. You can update your information, add a photo if you choose, or pay your invoice securely through the Wild Apricot system.

We still offer members to renew through our website using a credit card, and of course you can still pay with a check through the mail to: PA Museums, 300 North Street, Room 504, Harrisburg, PA 17120.

Save the date for The Strategic Museum: Mission in Community , our 2020 statewide museum conference, April 19-21 in Pittsburgh. Our conference is a great opportunity for businesses that work with museums to connect with customers and start conversations.

PA Museums has many opportunities for businesses to have a presence at our conference, and we are looking forward to seeing everyone in Pittsburgh.

CONFERENCES AND WORKSHOPS

Save the date for September 23rd when PA Museums will host 10 Quick Tips to Super Charge Your Next Fundraising Appeal, a free webinar with fundraising master trainer, Chad Barger, CFRE, to review the best practices in writing fundraising appeal letters. This session includes the most current research on what is working and what isn't from the field's top experts. This is a free webinar, but registration will be required. Contact PA Museums to register.

Save the date for the Pennsylvania Archives' 2019 Archives and Records Management Seminar, October 23, 2019. This will be an in-person seminar in Harrisburg as well as an online program.

SUPPORT FOR YOUR MUSEUM

The Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) has opened the application period for six grant programs including Museum Grants for African American History and Culture , Native American/Native Hawaiian Museum Services , Inspire! Grants for Small Museums , Museums for America , Museums Empowered , and National Leadership Grants for Museums .

Applications for all six programs are due on November 15, 2019.
 
Potential grant applicants are invited to view a webinar on how to choose the appropriate funding opportunity, as well as to learn more about specific programs. Please review the webinar listing for a schedule of live and pre-recorded webinars that are accessible online. IMLS staff listed in each notice of funding opportunity are available to answer questions and provide guidance during the application process.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette covered the search for DNA at Meadowcroft Rockshelter.

The Citizens Voice reported on events in Luzerne and Lackawanna Counties to mark the Avondale Mine Disaster of 1869.
