Winter Storm Warning Tonight for San Antonio Area
There is a Winter Storm Warning and Winter Weather Advisory in effect through 6 p.m. Thursday, February 18th. The region will see additional ice and/or snow accumulations later tonight and travel conditions will continue to be dangerous through Thursday.

Utility Updates

CPS Energy predicts that power will return to most residents by Saturday, February 20th. They warn that power may not return to all residents immediately because of damage to the local power system, including damaged power lines.

The San Antonio Water System advises residents to boil their water beginning today. The boil notice is precautionary with homeowners' water line breaks. 

Warming Centers 

The City has opened the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center as a warming center for residents in need. For more information and to check availability, call 311.

Our Lady of Guadalupe in Helotes (13715 Riggs Rd) will be open tonight as a warming center as long as weather permits and potentially tomorrow depending on weather conditions. The church has hot meals available this evening. 

Westover Hills Church (9340 Westover Hills Blvd) will be open as a warming center tonight until 10 p.m. and will open up again tomorrow, February 18th from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. The church is not set up to provide supplies but does have snacks available. 

For individuals who have electric medical equipment that needs a power supply, the Emergency Operations Center may be able to provide assistance on a case-by-case basis. If you need this special type of assistance, please call 311.

Vaccinations

The City of San Antonio’s Alamodome COVID-19 vaccine site will be closed tomorrow. Appointments taking place tomorrow, Thursday, February 18th will be rescheduled to Monday, February 22nd due to inclement weather.

University Health’s Wonderland Mall COVID-19 vaccine site will be closed tomorrow. All February 18th appointments will be rescheduled for Monday, February 22nd at the same time, provided they receive shipments of the vaccine. People with vaccine appointments for Friday, February 19th should check vaccine availability before coming to Wonderland Mall.
If you have power, please conserve energy:
  •  Turn down thermostats to 68 degrees or lower if you can.

  •  Turn off lights and unplug any appliances or electronics that are not being used.

  •  Don’t run large appliances if you do not have to.

  •  Use as little natural gas as possible to avoid a shortage
