Dear winelover
It is with great delight that we offer you a selection of the exceptional red Burgundies from Domaine Gerard Mugneret. We've long loved this domaine, established in the 1930s in the village of Vosne-Romanee, yet amazingly it remains nearly anonymous, even amongst Burgundy afficiandos. And given the stratospheric prices asked by many of its Vosne-Romanee neighbours, Gerard Mugneret's wines seem very generously priced!
The wines are produced by Pascal Mugneret, who since 2012 has gradually implemented various changes at the domaine that have further raised the quality of the wines. In the last decade, he's moved towards farming using biodynamic principles, employs as little sulphur as possible during winemaking (generally now only adding a small amount at bottling), and since 2012 has been increasing the percentage of stems included in the ferments.
These wines are quintessentially Vosne-Romanee in style, with gorgeous violet, cherry and spice flavours, fine yet persistent tannins and an incredible elegance and finesse to their style. They are not blockbusters, and will reward cellaring for many years. We're pleased to offer them to you, and recommend them most highly.
Happy drinking.
Stewart, Marcus and Rhiannon.
