Congratulations
Gail Rosen, PhD, professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), has received funding from NSF for the project “Collaborative Research: IIBR Informatics: Keeping up with the genomes - Continual Learning of Metagenomic Data.” This project uses artificial intelligence to identify organisms and their genes that live in microbiomes.
Baris Taskin, PhD, professor in ECE, and Kapil Dandekar, PhD, E. Warren Colehower Chair in ECE, received funding from NSF for “CNS Core: Small: Wireless Interconnect Networks on Multi-Die Systems.” This project investigates computing system, VLSI, antenna design and networking principles for the integration of a novel Through-Silicon-Via-Antenna (TVSA)-based wireless network system into semiconductor devices packaged in the form factor of heterogeneous multi-die integration.
Amir (Yaghoob) Farnam, PhD, assistant professor in Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering (CAEE), received a two-year award from Compass Minerals America to evaluate and develop phase change materials (PCMs) for concrete deicing applications. PCMs provide a sustainable solution to revolutionize anti-icing and snow-melting practices.
Associate Professor Miguel Pando, PhD (CAEE), has been appointed a member on the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada’s Civil, Industrial and Systems Engineering Group for a three-year term ending June 30, 2023.
Assistant Professor Shannon Capps, PhD (CAEE), was elected by the members of the American Association for Aerosol Research to serve as vice chair of the Atmospheric Aerosols working group. She will serve a two-year term, beginning as vice chair in October for the 2021 AAAR conference, then as chair and a member of the 2022 conference program committee.
