Cruise ship to make two stops in Thunder Bay
Few cruise ships have been seen at the Port of Thunder Bay in recent years, but at least one will be visiting the city in 2020. Thunder Bay is one of about 10 stops scheduled for a Great Lakes cruise this June.
The HANSEATIC Inspiration, owned by the Great Lakes Cruise Company, will depart Toronto on June 3 before making about 10 stops en route to Chicago. The 13-night cruise will hit all five of the Great Lakes and both sides of the border, with other stops including Tobermory, Parry Sound, Sault Ste. Marie, and Duluth.
Scotties Tournament of Hearts Coming to Thunder Bay in 2021
It will be a landmark edition of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts when the 2021 Canadian Women’s Curling Championship is staged in Thunder Bay, Ont., it was announced on Tuesday, January 7 by Curling Canada.

The 2021 event, which will be played Feb. 20-28 at the Fort Williams Garden, will be the 40th edition of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts — the longest-standing sponsorship of women’s sports in Canada.
And while that alone will be cause to celebrate, there will be plenty on the line for Canada’s best women’s curling teams in Thunder Bay next year.
Palladium site undergoing another expansion, hiring
With the increasing sense of urgency about climate change, the demand for what has become known as green technology has grown significantly.

And because a rare chemical element that is used in the catalytic converters that reduce harmful emissions from our cars is extracted at the local Lac Des Iles mine, the Thunder Bay District is uniquely poised to meet that demand.

Small Business News in Thunder Bay
January 2020 feature is Nadine Kelly
Meet Nadine Kelly, Founder/CEO of the fast growing meal service business Breakfast Lunch & Deener and Co-Founder of The Cook Nook.

Nadine moved to Thunder Bay in 2015 after completing her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at the University of Guelph. Nadine came to Thunder Bay to help her mom and after some research decided to start a personal training business. As her business grew larger, she realized the lack of services available to help busy people with their nutrition, beyond just advisory services. Nadine was, and still is a firm believer that nutrition is the foundation of a healthy lifestyle, and grew increasingly frustrated as clients struggled with nutrition, simply because they just didn’t have the time or the desire to cook. Breakfast Lunch & Deener was established in May 2016 as Thunder Bay’s premier prepared meal service. It is intended for individuals who are busy and would rather not spend their valuable time grocery shopping, cooking, and doing dishes.
