A Message from the PTA President

Hello Rockwell Families,

The PTA is excited to welcome everyone back for an exciting (and unprecedented) start to the academic year. We know things feel strange and unsettled as we start the school year, remotely. Please know that the PTA is here to help support families as they transition to a new "normal." You can reach the PTA president, Elaine Bentzinger, through email at president@normanrockwellpta.org if you have questions about the PTA's plan for this academic year. If you are able to help support the PTA through volunteering, please reach out to Gretchen Knapp (volunteering@normanrockwellpta.org).

We announced at Curriculum Night last night that we will still be holding our Annual Beagle Contribution (ABC) fundraiser. We are asking for a $50 donation per child, 70% of which goes toward the academic grants to support our teachers, and $10 of each donation will go to our scholarship fund to help our families in need. We are empathetic to the situation many of our families are in, so please know that if you are unable to contribute we completely understand. You can sign up for membership and/or donate on the PTA website

And here’s another easy way for us to raise money! This year, Microsoft and Bing have launched a new program called “Give with Bing!” It’s an easy way for us to earn money for our school! CLICK HERE  to turn Give mode “on,” and then search for and select “Norman Rockwell Elementary PTA” as your non-profit of choice. After that, simply use Bing for all your searching needs. The more you search on Bing, the more points you’ll earn—and each month Norman Rockwell PTA will receive a donation. If you sign up for Give with Bing before Sept. 30, 2020, Microsoft will give you 1,000 points to donate towards the PTA, so start telling your friends and family about this as well!

Lastly, we are excited to announce that we will be hosting a virtual back to school dance party on Friday, September 18th. Details will follow, but mark your calendars now. The dance party will be a chance for students in each grade to connect socially and to have fun with their entire grade in a virtual (and safe) setting.

Thank you for your support!

2019-2020 YEARBOOK UPDATE

Please see the note below from Lifetouch, our yearbook vendor:

Dear Families,

Yearbooks are a tradition for schools throughout the US and Canada. At Lifetouch, we are humbled to be a part of providing that tradition. We know how important yearbooks are - especially in times like these.

We want to take a moment to acknowledge this year's delayed yearbook delivery is not what you, as our customers expect, nor deserve, from Lifetouch.

We want you to be aware that our primary yearbook production facilities are located in some of the states that are being hardest hit by the pandemic. We have prioritized the safety of our employees; and we are following all state and local health guidelines to create a safe working environment. Social distancing requirements mean that there are fewer people available to work at any given time. These changes have impacted our production schedule in meaningful ways.

We realize this has created a lot of frustration since we are currently unable to provide an estimated delivery time frame for your school's yearbook. Please know our teams are doing everything possible to get your yearbook to you. Shipping is monitored daily. As soon as your yearbook ships, your school will receive tracking information so they can arrange to distribute the yearbooks to the students and families in a manner that is best suited for everyone's safety.

As we navigate COVID-19, our intent is to provide you with a yearbook that your student will treasure for a lifetime. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this unprecedented time together.

Sincerely,

Lifetouch

Volunteer Opportunities for this School Year!

  • Room Parent! Every classroom needs 2-3 room parents. These volunteers will be trained by the room parent coordinator to support the teacher and coordinate communication amongst the parents of the children in each classroom. Sign up Here!
  • Art Docent! Also, every grade will need an art docent leader. This person will be trained by the art docent coordinator to help facilitate the beloved art docent program in the virtual classrooms. This will include delivering asynchronous lessons. Sign Up Here!
  • VP of Fundraising! Oversees Annual Beagle Contribution and supports chairs for Dine outs; bi-annual Box Tops and Spirit Wear orders. Supports varying programs like Read A Thon
and other passive income opportunities

All of these volunteer opportunities have lots of support and training. Any amount of volunteering would be greatly appreciated!
