Greetings from Greater New Haven
Getting to Know Greater New Haven
Greater New Haven is comprised of fifteen towns, from Milford to Meriden to Madison and each town has its own personality. Nestled in the west of the region are three of our favorite rural towns: Bethany, Woodbridge and Orange. A little farther west, North Branford's Augur Farm offers an annual display of spectacular sunflowers.

While the world has changed dramatically since March, their beauty and charm remain.

Stay tuned as we share more about each of our towns over the coming weeks!
Bethany
Rural is Beautiful.

Rural evokes a sense of our agricultural past. Rural accepts and acknowledges some diversity in its natural and man-made surroundings. We are rural and rural goes hand-in-hand with our sense of community and belonging.

Over 58% of Bethany’s land is undeveloped, either protected open space or privately held undeveloped land, be it farm, field or forest. Our rural landscape is accessible and enticing; it tempts you to spend time outdoors enjoying it.

Stop in at any of our local shops, stores, or farms and you’ll find friendly people who will remember your name the next time they see you.
Woodbridge
Woodbridge is a family friendly small rural town with an excellent school system just a 20-minute drive from the New Haven Green.

The business district is home to quality restaurants, unique shopping and recreation opportunities while the rest of the Town is dotted with small farms, rolling hills, rock outcroppings, historic homes and dramatic views.

Orange
Established in 1822, the Town of Orange is 17 square miles containing quiet neighborhoods with a New England charm and a boasting commercial section along Rt 1 with shops, restaurants, hotels and entertainment venues. The town has various operating farms, three 18-hole golf courses, and over a thousand acres of hiking and walking trails set on seven major areas. The tight-knit community gathers at fairs, festivals, town concerts and the farmers market all held within the picturesque town center and historical district. With easy access to I-95 and the Merritt Parkway, visitors can spend the day attending a fair, shopping and grabbing a meal at one of our many restaurants, or enjoying family time at one of the town’s entertainment venues. www.orange-ct.gov
North Branford
This early mill and farming community incorporated from Branford in 1831.

North Branford is one of those very special places to live, work, and enjoy the many recreational opportunities the community has to offer. When visiting, make sure you stop by one of our many businesses to eat, relax, and purchase that special something. Enjoy all the working farms we have in town and be sure to stop by all of them to pick up something fresh.  www.townofnorthbranfordct.com

In late July or early August, depending on Mother Nature, the fields of Augur Farm are awash with beautiful blooms, as you can see here in Terry Wild's photo.
