Ken Alex to lead Project Climate at the Center for Law, Energy & the Environment

Project Climate
Director Ken Alex
Berkeley Law is thrilled to announce that Ken Alex -
former Senior Advisor to Gov. Jerry Brown, former director of the Governor's Office of Planning and Research, and former chair of the Strategic Growth Council - has joined the Center for Law, Energy & the Environment to spearhead Project Climate. Alex's work will focus on identifying the most promising climate change solutions and accelerating their adoption on a worldwide scale.

Ken Alex comes to Berkeley Law with an exceptional record in environmental and energy law. He has led some of California's most successful environmental and energy litigation, steered the development of some of California's most innovative climate agreements (such as the Under2 Coalition), and has enacted countless creative approaches to persistent challenges (such as satellites for detecting  and tracing methane emissions and the Transformative Climate Communities program).

In Transcript Magazine's recent feature on CLEE, Executive Director Jordan Diamond said

" Ken has been incredibly influential developing leading efforts to combat climate change and scale renewable energy, not just in California but through example around the world. He has a remarkable ability to devise creative, pragmatic approaches to tackling seemingly intractable challenges - and then see them to completion."

Project Climate will promote many projects and solutions-engaging faculty, students, entrepreneurs, foundations, governments, and c ompanies Some of these solutions  include
regenerative agriculture, remote methane leak detection and dairy digester technology, direct air carbon capture, and integration of health care and climate change awareness. Each project involves different sectors, technologies, and policy-makers, and Project Climate will devise and initiate individual strategies for each solution.

The Berkeley Law community could not be more excited to bring Ken Alex on board. For more on Ken and his many accomplishments, read the recent CalMatters article, see his feature in  Transcript Magazine, and visit the Project Climate website.
